I know the plan is ending completely in April...

can we still port in a new line until our end date?
Yes. As per policy, we can add up to 5 lines until 4/30. I had very tough time when I added new line on my account on Dec'19 and rep was very adamant and he was not ready to give free plan instead he was about to give KS. I asked him to transfer to his manager and after 2 hours, new line added under my plan. So, you can call the number which Comintel mentioned and start with port in to my existing plan. By default, they will offer kickstart plan. If it doesn't go well, try to speak with manager. Port in from AT&T to Sprint took 5 minutes which was big relief after 2 hours time.

Excellent!

That is indeed a somewhat similar (but broader and maybe better) offer.at Best Buy for those with qualifying Sprint accounts!

I had a chat with rep today regarding merger and below are the latest comments from the rep:

9:28PM Although the Federal Communication Commission and Department of Justice have approved the Sprint and T-Mobile merger , we still have a couple of hurdles to pass before the deal is completed. We will have many more details to sort through in the coming months as we work to close the transaction, which we expect to be completed in the 2nd Quarter of 2020.

9:28PM Until then, Sprint and T-Mobile remain two separate companies - nothing changes in terms of the work we do. We will keep you informed as we move toward completing this transaction.

9:28PM We will have the scale and resources to provide U.S. consumers and businesses with greater competition. We will provide faster, more reliable services at lower prices and with better value.

Comintel and experts, Quick question - I searched in this thread for several pages but not able to find. Very simple question - From AT&T, during port out, I used my AT&T account number and PIN and port in was success in Sprint. If I want to port out from Sprint, Is the same account number which is available in bill and PIN which we use to give while calling Sprint?.

Yes that is right.
It is the same account number and pin for all lines.

I started my plan on April 3, and based on the chat, I was told the plan will be good by the end of the April.
"have reviewed your account and found that you started the plan on 04/03/2019 and the validity is for 1 year and it will be valid till 04/30/2020."

Chat is often wrong and the validity of the free plan can actually be 12, 13, 14, or 15 months but the plan does end on April 30 for people who signed up on the date you did (because that is the last free plan end date) so they are correct in this case.

In general the ideal place to look for the full details of your plan including end date and fees is on your bill under plans and equipment.

Congrats. The jump to 12gb ram is amazing. Kudos to Samsung.

Thanks and the 12gb is in fact the feature of the phone that attracts me the most. I also look forward to the DEX Windows integration which allows running Android apps from a PC mixed in with Windows apps (that was in S10 also).

What's currently the best deal on a low data use plan available for at least a year (i.e. pre-paid for a year) and which is not FreedomPoop?

This would be for my dad, and his use is probably < 1Gb month, so something offering 1-2Gb a month plus phone and data (and those can be capped, too) would be fine.

I know that for a while there were sim cards on eBay for some MNVOs that were around $50/year for an appropriate plan, but I don't see any of those noted as active deals on Slickdeals at this point...

I don't want a 3 or 6 month come-on plan that requires changing provider (or paying a lot more) after it expires. Since this is for my dad, it would need to be guaranteed at least a year.

(2) Then wait a day or two and call Recovery at the number shown at https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...print.html [sprint.com] and ask if they will give you KickStart. As of the time this is written, they will. (You may get an email with a link to that site but you can call even if you do not get an email). Note there is NO CREDIT for KickStart any more (only for regular price plans). You are doing it just to save the hassle of porting out and in.

(3) If things somehow break down, just port out to a non-Sprint-related carrier before the future dated cancel takes effect and port back in to get kickstart.

OR another completely different way is just add a KickStart line to your account with a different number for now. Then shuffle numbers around later.

Update: A few people have had problems with the Retention rep not actually entering the cancel. As a result, Recovery cannot see it and cannot convert the line to KickStart.
i did call retention dept and they were ok to give KickStart for 35/m but not the 25/m that they are offering in BestBuy. I told the BB is also 35 but they mentioned $10 credit for byod but still no luck honoring the 25 offer of BB.
I've to port out and port in back though BB i guess
any cheapest port out for a day and port in back? options we have in wiki or other places?
