Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Hellomobile port info I thought you guys could use here

Why don't you just go with HelloMobile?
Unlimited everything. $25, and discount for each additional line.
Simple answer, hello mobile customer support/tech support is rough.

FYI when you port, they stick you on the sprint network or Tmobile, depending on a few factors. Coming in with a GSM phone and a crappy sprint SIM gets me stuck on the sprint network with no way to switch. And all they can tell me is they support GSM and CDMA and there's not much knowledge behind that I am afraid.

I called in, the queue kept telling me an 60 minute wait, sometimes the time goes down, some time it goes up. Round one I think the real wait time was maybe 20 minutes. I explained what was going on, the cust rep was ok. Transfer to tech support, again 60 minutes queue message, then 50 mins, then 60 mins. After about 40 this really chatty tech comes on.

Their website gives a network USSD code that doesn't work. It's not even USSD. The code she gave me, that I spent and hour and a half getting is: *#*#72786#*#*

After that network reset it came up OK. Must be an MVNO thing. They are giving free 5GB extra data this month because of COVID virus, which is thoughful. So I'll run it a month and likely switch over to Tmobile $15 2GB plan.

They seem to deal with this all the time, why that code isn't up on their website, I don't know. It would clear up their weird call queue

FYI just so that people know, their "unlimited" plan mentioned in what you quoted is really 15 GB at high speed, followed by unlimited data at 64 kbps, so it is not really unlimited at all Plus they throttle or cut off your account even well before their limits are reached.

Yeah the the lowest throttle I could ever use was 512K, 128K is useless. They may give a chance to upgrade to the next plan with no penalty like they used to. Or it mentioned buying data bundles. Anyway highly unlikely for me to exceed that.

And man so far that hellomobile is a throttled mess. Very inconsistent speeds, when she warned be about that I thought I'd check. Yikes. And upload is terrible consistently.

Thanks as always for the great info!

You had to accept though, right?

So it is a retention offer that people will have to call in individually to get.

Thanks for posting about it!

There is a suggestion in another post that it is for 3 months but could last longer. If you want clarification, Retentions at 844-382-3317 is the best number for details about retention offers.

Regarding LuckAnt's post, I called to cancel one line (expiring end of March) and was told I could extend for 1 year and keep the same deal being charged $5.32 total for another year. He sent an email showing the same thing for old and new plan though it doesn't show the end date. I do not, however, see a new expiration date in my account so far. I called this morning.

My Free plan ended Dec 31st and first it showed 0.00 and then I was charged $69.77 including taxes (they put me on a $65 plan with $5 autopay discount).

I want to switch to something like the kickstarter plan that is $35/month (unless there is another cheaper option available). I want to keep this number. How should I go about doing this and getting the $300 prepaid card? Is the kickstarter plan rate $35 only until Jan 31st 2021?

I read the last few pages but am confused. Any help will be appreciated. If needed I can do a credit pull with spouse's SSN.

When I saw the $0.00 I thought I was lucky. But they charged me $65 - $5 autopay discount = $60 plus taxes for Jan, Feb and will be paying same for March.

Right - there have been no meaningful offers from Retentions for the last year.

If you actually want to cancel, it is best to port out to kill the line as the surest way. You can port out to H2O to let it die there for free if you get their sim. Or if you really want to try to cancel through Sprint staff, then be sure to talk to Retentions and not customer support - but porting out is still better except in special cases

If you want Kickstart, you can have it by just signing up in your existing account. A new account is not needed. It needs to be a new number and a different phone if the old one is still active on the free plan..There is a $300 gift card offer if you PORT IN a new number and then register, so if you go this route, be sure to port in a new number. It will be $35 a month if you do it directly through Sprint.

To get Kickstart for $25 a month instead of $35, you need to port in at a BestBuy store. This may or may not qualify for the $300 gift card. Sprint staff will say probably not, but they have nothing to do with it - it is a separate registration that you do. I think it might well succeed.

.
How long is the BestBuy $25/month plan valid for? Sprint switched me to the Basic unlimited plan (since January). How can I switch to the kickstarter plan, get the $300 card and retain my number?

Kickstart is $35 long term as long as you have the plan. People are misreading a comparison chart with another plan.

A new line with port-in from a non-Sprint carrier on a new account on your spouse's SSN would qualify for $35 a month and the $300 promotion.

However they could trace the phone number you mention if it ends up back on Sprint to deny the $300.

The safest thing would be

(1) set up her account with a brand new number ported in from wherever.
(2) port the prior existing number to GV and leave it there for the next few months (or forever - this is actually the best setup). It can point back to the new number you ported in so the number still works fine.

I think it would be very remote that they would trace the phone alone without the number (although nothing is ever completely 100%).
