Seems like the solution is below:

"I had the same problem before. I have a camera with Mac-adress starring with 34 (the one with the plastic reset button). I got it to work using the Mi Home app version 4.0.8 (you can download it on Google if you search for Mi Home 4.0.8 apk). Install the app and then unselect "update plug-ins", set region to "Mainland China" and change language to English. DO NOT UPDATE CAMERA OR APP. When this is done you have to reset the camera to the firmware version 3.0.3.56. You can do this by holding in the plastic setup button for 12-15 seconds. The status-led will tur off or solid orange. Wait until the led starts flashing orange. Now the camera is reset to the firmware it came with. Do the setup as usual and make all the steps on the screen. When you are done, after a while, the camera status-led will start blinking blue. Now the camera will work on WiFi LAN only. Unplug the camera and leave it unplugged over night. plug the camera back in and wait for a couple of minutes and the status-led will turn solid blue. This means that the camera is connectet to the cloud server and now can be accessed via your phones 4g/3g or on a different WiFi than the cameras. I don't know why you will have to wait over night for the camera to start working via cloud (4g/3g). But that's how it is.. I have tried this with 3 cameras and it works on all of them. I hope i helped someone!"​

Hmmm, guessing that wasn't done on an Apple. Not sure how to load an out of date app on a non-jailbroken iphone.

Just received and hacked mine from this deal. MicroSD can be super small...like 10MB small. I'll note for anyone else who may be reading this thing - this is a pretty bad deal. The camera is only $19.99 which is right - but once you hack it, the microsd MUST stay in the device, and you lose night vision/recording capabilities outside of tinycam. If you leave the device unhacked, you can still use the Xiaomi app, but you have to use an older build of the apk, and you cant use it with tinycampro in that case. Youre MUCH better off going for something like a foscam C1 when it goes on sale for ~$40.

Strange. Now problem. I unplugged my xiaofang and followed the instructions but now just flashes blue. Cannot connect to wifi OUTSIDE of home. (I have not hacked the cam btw) Only if on wifi router at home is working. IS this being blocked by xiaomi?

My package never came ... I ordered from miniinthebox. I sent a ticket already, but probably won't see my $18 again. I sent my first ticket at the end of July because I ordered the item mid June.

Camera is geo locked. It will only work when you are connected to your Wi-Fi. If you want to be able to view outside of network, 1. DO NOT UPDATE CAMERA. 2. You need to download older version of their app. 3. You will have to create an sd card with the fang hacks on it and side load. There is a website that has everything you need to know to get this to work. Once it's all said and done, you will need to use port forwarding on your router to access camera out of network. I use tinycam. Here is the website https://github.com/samtap/fang-hacks. If you've already updated camera, you must downgrade firmware. All on that site. Good luck
