This is based on an Amex Offer: spend $50 at Martha Stewart Wine and get $40 back. I have 2 cards that have this offer so I used both of them.
Instruction:
1. Groupon has 6 bottles of wine+$50 off $75 voucher for 49.99, and if you use coupon
SUNNY20 you can get that down to 39.99.
2. Once you receive the groupon, follow the instruction to redeem the code. On the official website it will ask you whether you want to upgrade to 12 bottles and a $75 off $100 voucher for another $49.99. I'm from California so they charged tax and brought the total to about $57, which triggered the first $40 back.
3. Then you can use the $75 voucher on whatever and however many bottles of wine you want from the website, as long as the total is over $50 after shipping, tax and voucher discount. I bought a 4 bottle red wine case, 2 sparklings and 1 red, ending up charging a little over $50 to my card, triggering the second $40 back.
Total paid: 40(groupon)+57(first order)+50(second order)-80(amex cashback) = 67 for a total of 19 bottles. They might not be the best wines but at less than $4 a bottle I'm not complaining.
YMMV because offer triggering depends on your state and whether you have the Amex Offer. If both apply to you then you can definitely enjoy this deal.
Note:
1. SUNNY20 shouldn't be YMMV. It's an officialgroupon coupon I saw in a banner. It expires on 6/28.
2. As of which states charge tax, according to SDer Just_one's comment:
|
The way online wine sales work is that ALL orders must be shipped by a licensed distributor within the buyer's home state. So you will be charged sales tax.

Here [marthastewartwine.com]'s a list of the states Martha Stewart Wine ships to. It's still highly recommended that you check with the website before purchasing the groupon.
3. If you don't want 19 bottles of wine, the most cost effective way is to order only 2 or 3 bottles with each Amex Offer. The order total (including shipping and tax) needs to exceed $50. Each bottle should cost $4~6 after Amex Offer, which is still a decent deal.

Unlike other wine clubs every single wine on the site lists the actual winery it's produced at.
It's not a deal for everyone but people need to stop with the misinformed unsubstantiated assumptions when they haven't done one bit of due diligence.
Yeah this thread had me worried until I read comments like this... I ordered last night
Kind of worried about the delivery, it's really hot in Las Vegas right now and I'm concerned the delivery truck won't be air conditioned. Wine might be ruined.

In 2011 Professor Richard Wiseman, a psychologist (and former professional magician) at Hertfordshire University invited 578 people to comment on a range of red and white wines, varying from £3.49 for a claret to £30 for champagne, and tasted blind.
People could tell the difference between wines under £5 and those above £10 only 53% of the time for whites and only 47% of the time for reds. Overall they would have been just as a successful flipping a coin to guess.

"Featured Selections Include:
2015 Cala De Poeti Sangiovese I.G.T., a 95-point Platinum Medal-winning red from Puglia, Italy.
2015 Les Chartrons Bordeaux Blanc, a delicate and complex white that was recently awarded Best of Class.
2015 Longchase Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon, a complex California Cabernet Sauvignon and 4-time medal winner."
1. a search for "cala de poeti" sangiovese returns nothing but wine club/groupon stuff, review sites indicating it comes from such places, and a couple obscure indications that people found some at trader joes. Cannot find any website or any info about the winery itself -if it actually exists.
2. Les Chartrons seems to be somewhat more legit, found lots of reviews on a red of theirs, but i still cant find this wine indicated as being for sale from anyone but martha stewart, or any website or info about the winery itself - if it exists.
3. Longchase - totally bogus, a "saddlehorn cellars" product, can only find it being sold by martha stewart and the like.
you or others have noted how these have an average price of at "$xx.xx" on "X" review site. This is true, but every single one i've looked at, when you click to see where those prices are coming from, it is always MS, barclays, heartwood & oak, etc, etc.
I will note i have NOT looked at any that are just listed per bottle- only ones that are part of the bulk deals. It is entirely possible some of the individual ones are legit, but there is no deal to be had on them so that isn't relevant.
Interesting link [businessinsider.com] to info on how Trader Joe's can sell a bottle of wine for 3 bucks (or less) and make a profit.
Article [winewalkabout.net] on the costs breakdown on a bottle of wine. Not stated here is a premium cork for good reds can run $1.25 each.
From another source:
Cost Breakdown of a Wine Bottle Sale
When you buy a bottle of wine, it's easy to complain about the cost you pay for it. But it's important to remember that a lot has gone into having that bottle sitting on the wine shop shelf, waiting for you to pick it up. And, as much in life, the hard workers rarely get that profit! Here is where the money tends to go when you pay for that bottle of wine.
7% - cost of grapes / growing
9% - cost of winemaking
4% - bottles, corks, boxes, labels
2% - marketing
13% - salesmen, distribution from the winery
3% - administrative costs
2% - interest
4% - taxes to government
5% - actual winery profit
20% - wholesaler markup - the people who get wines to wine shops
31% - wine shop markup
The reason I posted this is not that those are top notch wines. Will I buy them at regular prices? No. Will I buy them at 3 dollar a bottle? Hell yeah. At least I think they look better as a gift than Trader Joe's $3 wines.
I think this is a deal but if you don't then look elsewhere. So many haters here are the reason I probably wouldn't want to post any more deals even if I found one in the future.

Yeah and I get your intent. $3-$4 for an OK bottle of wine is a STEAL. Show me where I can walk in and get an average bottle for that much - shit I don't know if you can even get the twist top shit for that cheap.
All the haters on here are snobs - if you're complaining about "grades", "aging", how inexpensive wine "cheapens" the whole CA angle, and the cost of corks, sorry you're a snob.
BTW I didn't elect to go the whole groupon route - the SUNNY20 wouldn't work.
