B&H has a better deal if you care about the camera control module and don't live in NY/NJ https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...phone.html

I'm not really sure my wife will like it so I ordered from Amazon for the ease of returns.

There is so much hate for this phone, and I've no clue why. I've had the AT&T version for almost a year and not had a single problem. It's smooth, fast, and takes awesome photos. Battery life is solid and the battery is easy to swap out in seconds. This, to me--an actual G5 owner, is an awesome phone for $250.
I am glad you got lucky, but there are widespread issues with this phone. I am typing on my 4th replacement of my G5 (I won't even mention how many G4's ive been through). Screen has horrible ghosting. Bad gps overall. First two G5's boot looped. LG's quality control has gone to garbage and it shows. I am waiting on this phone to fail to replace it with a zte flagship or something. Pity too I loved LG's stance on removable batteries and SD cards...why I stuck with them so long. But no longer.

There I have given you insight as to why there is so much hate towards this phone...and why it dropped to $250 so quickly.
I thought the same thing about my G4 until it got hit by the boot loop defect and had to be mailed in for service. The new G6 definitely appeals to me, but I don't know if I'll ever pull the trigger on another LG. People who got the Samsung Note 7 probably feel the same way.

Bought AT&T G5 during 120$ deal at Bestbuy.

I dont see any Bootloop issues but when phone gets hot, its kind of unresponsive. I play pokemon just recently start seeing this summer time. During cool weather never seen this issue. Once it gets little cool down everything seems ok..
Also it wont auto connect to ATT free Wifi, it will connect and disconnects saying no internet.

Other than these phone is pretty solid and good Battery life.
Do any of you see these above issues?

Any phone will get hot playing that game, I know my Note 5 does. That game is a damn battery hog, I had to turn VR off and both in phone and in game battery saver mode on.

Arent the bootloops due to some crappy soldering job and heat build up issue? I wonder if power users and gamers have this looping more than folks who dont use their phones that much?

It seems like some people are just super unlucky. I mean if you have 5 of these things bootloop what are doing different than all the ppl who never had a problem. Are they just lucky when they are the majority?

Yep I do have the same settings..
Strange is in evening or morning when weather is normal no issues.
Just around noon (above 85) just walking to collect items at pokestops itself will be slow responsive.

I've seen it happen to the G3 and G4. The users were not playing game or running any graphic intensive apps. Just one lucky day, the phone'd start to boot loop. It happened right when the 1 yr warranty is over so most people are still on the payment plan/contact. If you have to continue to pay for a paperweight then you'd lose trust in the maker. LG didn't really stand by their products either. Bad manufacturing, bad manufacture, bad way of handling issues.

If it's like the other recent LG devices, the reboot problem won't show up until after the first year of use. Personally, I've been bit by a G3, two V10's and a Tab X 8.3. The only thing that has saved me was that I had full insurance on the phones. One was replaced, the other two I jumped to a new phone instead. The Tab X still has a problem.

What I'm saying is that you may have a very different experience, after 13 to 15 months.

My 2c as to the cause points at the battery, charging and power regulation as a logical cause. Each of my devices exhibited battery life or recharging issues in the weeks before the devices exhibited problems that caused the to need replacement.

Thumbs down for what's clearly an attempt to dump these lemons before the class action reckoning demolishes LG.

Agreed. I'm always reading about bootloops but I've yet to have a single one. My HTC M8 was constantly bootlooping but never read about it once. I love this phone. Especially how modular the phone is. Only gripe is the GPS, which can be fixed with a piece of business card, a screwdriver and 5 minutes.

In LG's case, the boot loop is actually a hardware issue caused by bad soldering on the motherboard. Heating up the phone or baking the motherboard in the oven is actually known to temporarily fix the issue, as crazy as it sounds.

After my friend's G4 boot looped and my LG V10 finally boot looped last month, I'm going to say no one is safe from it happening to them inevitably on the G4 and V10. Luckily I was able to pull off my data from a method I saw on reddit where you use a blowdryer to keep the phone extremely hot so it wouldn't reset, and LG sent me a replacement phone afterwards out of warranty.

Hi All.
Since ther eis a bunch of knowledgeable phone guys here I have a question. I just sent my Motorola XT 1575 back, The battery was only lasting a few hours a day. A replacement is on the way. My wife bought me a Gear S 3 for my birthday last week. My son surprised me with a Samsung S 7 edge. The Motorola was definitely laggy compared to the S7 I'm not that excited about the phone. Screen is a little small for me.I don't want to spend the money on the S 8. Anyone have any suggestions for a good alternative for $400 or less? Or should I just try to get used to the S7?
Thanks for any input.

My G5 has been great for a year but the main camera has stopped being able to focus. So it's stuck with focus set at about 8 inches from the camera. The wide camera & front facing still work fine but aren't that high of quality.

What was LG's response when you contacted them?
