Thanks for sharing. I like Allen Edmonds shoes. I have never purchased their Factory-Second though - any thoughts on those?
By the way, there's free two-day shipping and free returns through ShopRunner, which makes trying these shoes easier. Due note, however, that there will still be a restocking fee of $10 per pair for any Factory-Second returns.
Allen Edmonds is running a limited-time promotion on their Factory Seconds shoes. Each shoe in this category has a discount of up to $200. The promotion has an end date of 07/03/2017.
According to the Allen Edmonds website, "Factory-Seconds are shoes that contain slight blemishes that don't allow them to be sold as First-Quality shoes at our Retail stores, on AllenEdmonds.com or through our partner retailers. Close to 90% of the imperfections are due to slight cosmetic blemishes such as scratches, nicks, leather imperfections or wrinkles."

I've gotten three pairs from their "ShoeBank" (https://www.shoebank.com), I suspect the factory 2nds now on their main site, linked here, is just another entry point for the same inventory.
If there is a flaw with any of the three pair, I haven't noticed.
If you go to the ShoeBank site, it will actually tell you where the pair is located. The best bet would be to try to find ones at their main warehouse listed at:
WI - Port Washington
Allen Edmonds Outlet - Factory Shoe Bank
201 East Seven Hills Road
Port Washington WI 53074-2504
262-284-7158
I believe these go through a round of vetting before being put into the 2nd's inventory.
If they are listed at a store or outlet, I believe it will be a bit more hit or miss. If ordering via ShoeBank you need to call in the order, and several times when trying to get a pair listed as located at a retail outlet or store, I've been told "you don't really want this pair".
However, if ordering online as is now possible at the main site, you won't get that feedback.

I have been a huge buyer of AE over the years. Seconds are typically very minor as another poster mentioned. I have seen things like nicks or wrinkled leather but also things like the to cap medallion not lining up with the other shoe
I have a few pairs of seconds and the flaws are usually where the seams don't line up perfectly or if its cap toe, the caps aren't exactly the same size. Unless you know what you're looking for, there is no way you or anyone will figure out its a second.

I bought factory seconds, one as a gift, one for me, and my father has some too. I'm not even sure they have flaws. Highly highly recommended.
They are shoes that in someway had minor blems. They are usually in like new condition. Usually can't tell any difference. But !!! This is no special deal right now. I follow both the Shoebank site and the other Allen Edmonds sites often. I can't see any difference in the shoes they are offering. It's pretty much a hit and miss with these sites. At times they have a good price on what you want. The shoe styles offered will change according to availability and size. But the 2nds are in excellent shape. Just my thoughts.
