I do a lot of video enconding(camcorder 4k video to other formats). How good are gaming laptops such as this one when it comes to video encoding?
Thanks!
Link?

It went up since yesterday it looks like, but they run specials monthly. You can also get 10% with a student discount. Change the config to get to lower prices. Also no tax for most.

Basically you're getting true 4k panel with OMEN, and good specs for the money. Please match the specs and price first and send us the link.

The extra gpu power from a gaming laptop makes video and photo editing much quicker.

The OMEN is only 4k if you pay $260 for it, the one I sent is $100 more for a 4k panel. But I didn't send it for that reason.
I sent it because a true desktop processor with a 1070 with a much more robust cooling system.
Yes the Ram and NVME are nice but I would always prefer to get those separate.
With the laptop I sent you can change to a I5 7600K and still be faster than the 7700HQ and be at $1575 with a 1070. When I originally posted the deal info it was 15% off, it was no longer by the time you asked for the link, which made it substantially cheaper. But you can still get 10% off for student discount if applicable and also no tax in most states.
Right now neither one of them is really a good deal, was just sharing that there are other options out there in the same price range that will be better.

The concept of gaming at 4k on a 6GB 1060 is fairly preposterous, even WQHD is disputable.
Beyond that, challenging someone to find a better deal RIGHT NOW is foolish, as the nature of SD is to point out deals that are good for a short time. Just try posting things that are at average market prices and see what happens to you. There is no apples-to-apples comparison, as value for certain specs, particularly in the gaming laptop segment, is hugely subjective. This also applies to saying "It would be cheaper if you get the 15.6" version instead -- because much like your detractors you aren't putting up links to back up your statement. Personally, I'd take this over the Omen in overall value:

Ultimately, if your argument is that 4k with GSYNC (in which case you'll want GTX 1070) and NVMe are important, there are still better solutions: when I look there is also a preconfigured (PN W2N52UA#ABA) with 1070, 4k+gsync, and a 512GB NVMe drive for $1699 -- to customize that into yours the price is $2009.99. I don't think it's really reasonable to justify a deal by saying that you can upgrade it.
