I saw this, but you beat me to the post. Really need one, though a new basement would be better. Reviews are really good, but I don't have high hopes of these lasting even 3 years.

This same unit is on sale at Staples this week for 153.
I've been trying to find a coupon to use with it to get it down a little more but I haven't found any besides the text $5 off. Thinking about just getting it from Staples for the extra $ just for the easier return if something is wrong with it out of box.

I have owned this for a few weeks. We recently had a flood in our area that resulted in 8" of water in our 700 sqft basement. After running my old dehumidifier and several fans for five days, there was still high moisture showing on my hygrometers. I did order this unit before the flood and received this Danby five days after the flood. I expected good results, and the unit surpassed my expectation by quickly drying the basement.

So ...for those that are slow, I have no idea how great this unit is, the price is good compared to any other unit with the same capacity. Top third unit put of the top ten from what I saw.

My Danby ran for two wet seasons and the defrost switch went out. Seems to be a common problem with Danby.

Customer service is pretty good, but on the slow side. Wanted give them a chance, but my damp basement couldn't wait for them to process the replacement and schedule for shipping.

Thankfully, Costco took care of it.

If you get one, get an extended warranty or buy at a place like Costco that does hassle free returns. I went through 2 units in 3 years, luckily Costco returns were easy and now I've switched to a Whirlpool
