Soooooo...we printed the wrong temp rating on a few of our Backcountry Quilts. Oops. It's actually warmer (700 fill, rated to 27 degrees EN Limit), than what's stated on the bag (600 fill, rated to 33 degrees EN Limit). So, it's BETTER than we thought, but we have to sell them as 'seconds' - even though they are cosmetically and functionally perfect.

FINAL SALE. Cannot be returned for refund. Factory warranty still applies.

The warmest, most functional quilt ever built. As a lightweight alternative to a sleeping bag, the Backcountry Quilt is extra long for more coverage and warmth. We've also incorporated unique features to insulate your head and arms.
Price is normally $219.95. Free Shipping and, at least in NJ, no tax.

Not a bad price for that weight and temp rating. Definitely not "The warmest, most functional quilt ever built.", but perhaps ever build by Sierra Designs. At $100 this would be a proper Slick Deal.

The 20 degree version got a lot of love from section hiker, getting dinged only for weight. Considered picking one up, but I think I'll hold back and get something a little warmer/lighter.

there's several cottage manufacturers that are going to get you warmer and lighter, granted at a cost. Or buy used off one of the hiking forums.

Definitely. Have my eye on an EE Revelation 30. I know they're the same temp rating, but from what I gather, EE is conservative on their rating, while Sierra Designs is pushing it with theirs.

Still, I think this is a good deal. Similarly spec'ed bags from North Face (just what I pulled up on REI.com) are a bit more expensive and a lot heavier.

Any thoughts on this Sierra Designs 30 degree quilt vs. the 20 degree Klymit bag at Costco at $140?

https://www.costco.com/Klymit-20-...64056.html

Thanks!

The SD quilt is lighter, by about a lb as it uses a slightly higher fill weight and is rated ~10F less warm. My guess is the Klymit temp rating is more accurate towards the comfort end than the SD quilt.

the other big difference is one is a quilt and one is a sleeping bag.

Which is better will depend on what your needs are. Both are good products.

Purchased this last week as soon as they emailed out the deal. Shipped pretty quick.

$145.17 + $12.34 (tax) + 0.00 (shipping) = $157.51 (total)

It's really light! Comes with a mesh net bag to store it when it's not in use and another bag to pack in for trips. I haven't tried it in a backpacking setting yet but the foot box feature was comfy. The pocket for your head to turn it into a mummy-esque sleeping bag is very convenient as well.
