Just in time for the approaching winter, Best Buy has a pretty sweet deal for a 2-way vehicle remote starter as well as for the DroneMobile add-on, which enables smart-phone access + fee-based cell service to start & control your car from anywhere within cell range, as well as GPS tracking with the premium plan.

Compustar CS4202 Two-Way Remote Starter Kit + Ball Bearing Tilt Switch (security feature)

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dron...1800050003

Cost: $150 + tax

Savings of $40 over retail price of $190

Total Cost: $400 + tax for both devices, with free installation at any Best Buy auto mod location

EDIT: If you'd like to get clever, pick up the DroneMobile from Jet.com for $90 and then have it installed anywhere. Best Buy charges $40 for just the install, so buying from Jet.com will save you $20 over the Best Buy all-inclusive price.

For a two-way remote starter + installation, yes, I'd say it is a great deal.

Two-way remote starters are very useful for getting confirmation that your car has actually been remote-started. Without that, you have to actually be able to see the car and hear it start.

DroneMobile takes all of the guesswork out and lets you be anywhere within cell service range to start your car and get confirmation (e.g. in your office, with no view of your car, at the store/mall/park etc.) .

Never need to worry about a scorching hot or cold/frosted/snow-covered/ice-caked car again.

I had one installed in another car at Best Buy years ago. They hit me up for over $100 in additional parts. Is there any way to know if they will do that this time as well?

Only real way to know is by calling them up and checking. As long as your car is compatible, then these packages *should* be all you need. Select cars may need some other obscure add-on, so calling is the best way to verify.

Do I still need to insert the original key or key-less entry / remote start will completely remove the need of original key?

Make sure you ship the unit to you, not a local store. The installers are contracted and best buy does a shit job of keeping track of the deliveries.

Got one installed last year on my 99 landcruiser and it works great. Ordered another one for my Sonata hybrid, cheaper than paying for the bluelink services from hyundai.

Since when have the installers been contracted? When I worked for BBY the installers were employees that also worked in the car audio department.
