The screen is definitely IPS, it says so right on the computer itself! It looks great too. The small bezels around the top and sides of the screen look modern but the bottom bezel is a little bigger. From what I can tell, the LCD and the touchscreen are laminated together and don't show much of a gap at all. I guess this is what they refer to as edge to edge.
This laptop is a lot thinner than what I imagined. It's kinda nice to see an AMD based laptop with such a nice fit and finish. The backlit keyboard only has an ON or OFF setting. The fan at the rear blows out a good amount of hot air but it's nothing too loud that I can tell yet.
Currently the computer is recovering from a Windows installation fail. I haven't had the chance to get inside the OS. Myself and a few other random people were looking at it and may have corrupted the updates that we're underway so I started a recovery. I'm just waiting for it to finish.
Oh and because I was the first person to specifically come in for this Ryzen laptop the sales guy and I started talking about it. As we were talking, he hyped it up and a girl literally bought one right there and then. She could've bought anything else, but she went with the Ryzen x360! Lol kinda funny and ironic as she was pretty clueless about computers but because of my influence on these people, she bought it and is probably the first Ryzen laptop owner in the world. Lol ok maybe just Chicago but still, how lucky is she?!
AMD has communicated to PCWorld that Envy 360 is going to be star of the Ryzen APU based laptops because it will be having Mobile XFR, causing the Processor to use higher boost frequency than the rest as HP has provided bigger cooling solution on Envy X360. I guess that is the reason that this 2-in-1 is actually a bit heavier than a standard 2-in-1 laptop.

Not a gamer, more video/photo centric, but I would need a decent gaming card for my needs.

Actually surprised at how much stuff this offers for the price. At least or one two of the following features is typically missing - Expandable RAM up to 32GB, active pen support, backlit keyboard with numberpad, a decently sized 55.8 WHr battery, sub 5lbs on a 15.6" 2-in-1, SD reader and HDMI 2.0 in addition to USB-C 3.1 with USB-C fast charging. This seems too good, there's got to be a trade off...
Any idea what material the frame is made out of?
