UR22 MKII is a little bit more but it's got solid drivers. I gave up on Focusrite even though they have great inputs but their drivers are really unstable. They work better with Macs than PC...from my experience. Steinberg UR22 is far more stable on the PC. For the price...you're better off just getting the Steinberg.
is there a difference besides the 2nd input with the solo vs the 2i2?
I was having the same q. After some specs check, both seems to be 2 in, 2 out. Difference is that in solo, one input is for mic and the other is for instrument (say, guitar). For 2i2, there are 2 mic/Instument combo inputs. so one can have 2mics or 2 instruments or one of each like in solo. Outputs are rca for solo and tsr(balanced) for 2i2. If you are planning to record 2 mic inputs, then go for 2i2 else stick with solo. Hope this helps.

Can you explain some of the problems you've seen on PC?
In my house, we have 5 speakers mounted in the ceiling. I am looking to connect some sort of audio receiver to stream music to the speakers. Will this work for this purpose?

No, this is a USB computer audio interface. Must be used with a computer at all times.
