This laptop is $150 off already on Newegg. It has a promo code (17BFNKCP01 ) on the actual page right now that lowers it $20.

RetailMeNot has $25 off rebate for all order over $350. You need to activate it and shop without adblocker for it to supposedly work. https://www.retailmenot.com/rebat.../2/9293714

So essentially it knocks this laptop from $599.99 - 150 = $449.99 - $20 rebate = $429.99 - $25 RetailMeNot rebate = $404.99

I think the laptop is pretty much this one located on Amazon which is also on sale here: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-57...01LD4MGY4/

But it comes with an SSD while the one above is a regular hard drive. The difference is the one above is $120 cheaper after discounts and you can easily add an SSD and more RAM as they have removable easy access slots. I have a spare SSD so I can easily upgrade the above laptop and it's the same thing from what I can tell. So that's why I think this is a steal.

Why, oh why can't every website list backlit keyboard as yes/no? After 20 minutes researching, I finally found the answer in this review: (spoiler, the answer is no)

Wish it wasn't a 5400 RPM HDD.

Good job OP with the extra rebate info.

This seems like a great laptop for my Dad who wants to stream sports on it occasionally , maybe hulu/netflix if I can get him to jump on that train, email, internet, etc... no games... but no one is saying this is a good deal and it has me hesitant... thoughts? $400 I dont see why this isnt a great deal? 5400 rpm HD, but again its only $400 and apparently you can swap out the HD easily on this model.

I see the exact same thing but with a 256 SSD for 515 on Amazon.... but I pay tax there in addition to my dad not really needing an SSD... or maybe he does...?
