My problem is I'll get really motivated, and it last all of about 3 days and then I get into that 'its okay not to exercise' or 'its okay just one brownie' mindset. I KNOW I will have two brownies. I think before I was really motivated to lose (to have a baby) and now what am I working towards

I would think my ,otivation is because I am getting married next year. I just can't do it. I have also been feeling really really bad about myself lately and I am trying to get out of that mindset I just can't.

Thanks!

I heard the Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred is AWESOME! I got it but haven't tried it yet. A lot of talk on the ZUMBA too. I was going to try it but the class I found was for seniors.

I have the 30 day shred. I pulled my hamstring second day. It is tough! Thats why I'm working my way up to being able to do it. I got it on clearance at target for $9, not sure what they are now.

I am 26! Went to the Zumba website to find a class and the most affordable near me is geared towards the elderly. I almost laughed. Those are some active elders!!

I'm using the EA Active for the Wii and Zumba class on Tuesday nights. I'm going to try Yoga again soon. I think my right arm may be strong enough for a downward dog. If not, I'll modify.

I really like it so far, compared to the Wii Fit. I really work up a sweat, which tells me that it works.

i bought 4 bikinis and pinned them up on the walls of my room. i clipped the tags and threw away the receipts, so now i can't return them. it helps me to look at them and remember my overall goal not to mention the money i could be potentially wasting by not exercising, lol

Everyone is different so its hard to say but radically changing your diet is one way to really mark a change. Start eating mostly veggies, fruits and a few other things to make sure you have a balanced diet.

The last time I got super lean was when I was doing low intensity , long duration exercise - walking at the beach for miles and miles. I was eating very little --- veggies , Wheat Germ, Brewers Yeast and some other stuff. And I was taking arginine which was denounced a hoax all through the 2000s.

Recently I decided to experiment with arginine again after some articles came out claiming agrinine did work with pigs and rats. There was one with humans too but its not widely cited in articles.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/relea...161848.htm

Is it safe? I dont know. It is just a plain amino acid but some articles claim it can cause the herpes virus to reactivate. That can be mild or a major thing since it includes shingles and even other more serious problems. Some articles mention L-Lysine to control the herpes virus.

Im also experimenting with BlueBerries
http://www.sciencedaily.com/relea...170112.htm

ScienceDaily (Apr. 20, 2009) — Could eating blueberries help get rid of belly fat? And could a blueberry-enriched diet stem the conditions that lead to diabetes? A new University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center study suggests so.

Plums and fruits and veggies in general
http://www.sciencedaily.com/relea...160926.htm

I think the big difference this time is that I really havent started doing lots of exercising like walking several miles a day. However Im losing weight like crazy maybe even faster than last time. Diet-wise the big change from the last time is very little carbs. In the past when I virtually fasted or tried to go ultra-healthy I ate tons bran cereal and other carbs. This time after taking arginine supplements I just completely lost my appetite. I have no idea if this is due to some delusion that arginine works or just a coincidence -- something else is causing my loss of appetite but I didtnt feel hungry at all the first week and lost a lot fast probably mostly water.

Second week got bored and still wasnt that hungry but started eating some KFC and other meals and quickly plateaued for a while a gained some weight back. So last week I decide to get serious again and ate mostly fruit. The normal meals seem to have triggered a stronger hunger effect. I do feel that acid gurgling in my stomach and some hunger pains -- but even they are strangely greatly muted with arginine and I can easily quell them with fruit which wouldnt have worked normally. Normally I would want like a pizza, eggs and bacon, burger -- or at least cereal or I just didnt feel quite right. Instead I eat a handful of Blueberries and an orange or grapes.

Of course drastic dieting can be dangerous as well as wolfing down any supplements etc. -- especially since who knows what kind of other factors that other people may have. They also say any drastic diets cause your body to compensate , it thinks you are in starvation mode and works to lower your metabolism making it even harder to lose weight and easier to gain it back.

However, I feel OK -- Im taking various vitamins to make sure I dont suffer any serious deficits and after a week Im losing like crazy. It seems like everytime I get on the scale to check myself I lose something even throughout the day. Its got to be mostly water. Im keeping tabs of everything I eat in a spreadsheet. My pants keep falling down now. Im going to start walking more this week too. However its not like Im pushing myself since I quickly adjusted to mainly eating fruit and since I just dont feel hungry.

Another thing I came across which Ive never used.
Phase 2 which seems to have some effect on the carbs you eat. I checked and you can buy it online.

Other radical changes --- stopped drinking soda. I was drinking lots of diet soda the last few years. I think that contributes to making you feel hungry. I always associate it with eating chips, burgers or some high fat food. It wasnt even a deliberate decision. As soon as I got less hungry I seemed to automatically be satisfied with just fruit and no soda. I can also start and stop eating high fat foods which is unusual. Usually if I break a healthy diet with a burger I get used to eating high fat foods again like an alcoholic falling off the wagon. This time --- Ive sampled small pieces of steak etc. and a few small pieces actually makes me full and I dont have a craving to eat it again.

Also looking for BPA free bottled water -- Primo is one brand. This is the new health buzz. A lot of clear plastic bottles are now found to leak BPA into the contents.

Kel-- hang in there. good to hear the EA Active is working... if DH says it works, then it works whether or not the scale say so Wink

MrsLola-- we're all mixed ages and mixed fitness levels. we've all gotten on the wagon and fallen off hug the fact you lost that much to begin with is a testament to the idea your body can lose it again. grab a pedometer, you'd be amazed how far you can walk in a day.

audriannasmama-- i tried zumba at my school and at the YMCA, both were mixed ages of 18-55... and both times the class kicked my butt.

Dowa-- careful though. i did the same thing, and realized as i was losing weight, i wasn't losing it from the places i thought i was when i bought the bathing suits. it sounds like the Special K challenge (who's gonna win: you or the swimsuit? lol).

radford-- warning to anyone trying a "fad" diet. even if they work theyre damaging to the body. arginine is NOT the way to go. i wouldnt call it a "hoax" per se, but i know enough about the chemical to tell you that you shouldnt be putting it into your body. (basically too much of one amino acid works for building protein temporarily, but when you're body gets used to it it causes problems...) same problem with L-carnitine that Nivea uses in their products just as an fyi.

blueberries, pomegranate, acai, green tea, etc are filled with antioxidants which is great for natural cleanses within your diet.

also the biggest loser endorsed brita filters and reusable water bottles as part of their Filter For Good [filterforgood.com] promotion. the waterbottles are BPA free by nalgene and they start at $8. (i've seen them at my local bed bath and beyond if you wanted to check there as well)

~~~
as for me, i'm up about 5 lbs. I did end up purchasing the Bosu ball this past thursday when City Sports offered to match a deal i wouldve gotten from Modells and then gave me my student discount on top of it. i can feel a difference already from doing the video that came with it which was full body with focus on core training.
i plan on wearing a swimsuit for 4th of july and i have vacay set for the last week of july as well so motivation is on!
I want to start jogging again, but by the time I wake up it's nearly 85 outside and I can't take it when it's that warm (working the swing shift here until about 10). Though I may buck up and try it :S Otherwise the EA Active is working great. I really like it, but I need to focus on my diet. Money has been tight, so I've been unable to spend money at the store. I'm going to pull out my list of good foods (or what I consider good foods) per a website I found, Body for Life IIRC. I hope to stick to those foods and stock only those in my house.
I think I'm also going to try Yoga again, but try to figure out how to motility certain poses due to my mending right arm. It's nearly 95% percent, compared to the pre-break range of motion. But I lost muscle mass that I can't put back on asap.
