wave hey everyone. realized no one posted in here for about a week now, and i don't wanna see this thread die out.

so maybe some posts with progress?
i lost only 2 lbs in the past 4 weeks (after going +/-)... that makes it a total of 35 lbs overall for me. i shouldve hit my goal weight by now and i'm about 17 lbs from it. i'd be happy with at least another 10.

i leave for SC next Friday so i'm trying to absolutely stick to my diet at least until then. i'm trying to kick up my workouts a notch so i can lose (hopefully) 2 more lbs before next friday.
i'm considering taking a spinning class tomorrow morning. i know its high impact and the most i've made it through spinning was in a 20-20-20 class so it was only 20 minutes. Dontknow how i'd do for an hour class.

i know some of you have taken trips (business etc) before... in the hotel in SC there's a small gym with a circuit and a few treadmills. i'm still treadmill challenged (i usually opt for ellipticals)... any tips/advice would be awesome Hug2

2 weeks in a row of plateauing. Ive posted Ive been alternating the past month --- starvation week and a week of slight cheating following that where Ill more salads and maybe scraps of meat or something. Its still very little food but it immediately makes me plateau.

The last 2 weeks I was lazy. Though at least for now, Ive lost interest in eating junk food and fatty foods, I have been getting less diciplined about eating tortilla chips/salsa, large salads and popcorn which makes me plateau. So instead of losing again last week I stayed level. This week Ive been losing again 1-2 lbs but I cheated slightly last night and today -- large salads so I havent had dramatic losses. I think Ill be a net loser this week though.

The strange thing is the sleeping as I said. Ive had one of the worst sleeping problems ever. I was convinced I had no bio clock like normal people but Ive been sleeping as if on a hardwired schedule the last few weeks after going on this stringent diet where I cut out all coffee, tea and soda. Suddenly the last 4 days the sleep schedule has been disrupted, Ive drifted to much later sleep time. I do still sleep well though which itself is amazing. The main culprit I think is, Im drinking a fair amount of diet coke again which has caffeine with the chips/salsa and popcorn. That may be it.

I used to think I was caffeine resistant. I had such a bad sleep problem I was tired all day since I can remember as far as my teens. I would drink 5-15 cups a day all day. Now I think the opposite must be true, I must be hyper-sensitive to caffeine. Even small amounts prevent me from sleeping.

The wild card is the St John Worts. Could that be the thing thats helping me and not the caffeine avoidance? Im taking it right now and still drinking coke and so far my sleep disruption is still happening. I should test it next by not drinking caffeine and then not taking St Johns wort for a week and see what happens.

Starvation diets are just plain stupid. You are burning up MUSCLE when you starve which is the opposite of what you need for long term weight loss.

You tend to burn up both fat and muscle but, sure they do say you tend to burn a fair amount muscle too. And also the claim is your metabolism ratchets down so it makes losing weight harder and easier to gain it back but Im not forcing myself to do this. Ive just lost interest in eating most of the things I used to love to eat.

Im exaggerating when I saw starvation diet though not by much. Im mainly eating only veggies and fruits with scraps of meat sometimes. Ive had that feeling before when Ive radically changed my diet --- lack of interest in the usual stuff though in the past the craving for pizza and burgers always lurked in the background.

This time --- its the strongest feeling Ive ever had. I have really lost the desire to eat junk food and most of the other stuff I really loved to eat.

you have to understand the way metabolism works. by not eating sure you're losing weight. not body fat. your adipose cells (fatty tissue) are going to be stored continuously since your body is scared you're no longer going to feed it at some point. then you're going to gain weight, not just plateau. you should really be eating those chips and salsa/popcorn... you need your body to get used to eating food again before you lose weight in a safe way.

I've come to learn it is my diet that is the problem. In the last two weeks I cut out my morning bagel and traded for a fruit cup and I am down 3lbs so far.

Now if I can only find something to trade chocolate or prime rib with.....

Yeah they say your fat cells shink but never disappear unless you get that liposuction procedure.

I did cheat last night. The last two weeks I thought I plateaued but generally I was losing more slowly , 1-2 lbs a week or so. One of the big problems is you get bored. When you eat --- you waste a lot of time thinking about where to go and what to eat. It fills up a lot of time and the sensation of eating ribs, burgers, pizza for 30min or more --- is a whole other experience. When all you do is munch on some salad or fruit --- you have so much more free time.

The whole dieting experience gets boring after a while. I even stopped taking arginine since I lost my appetite. However a few days ago with the slight cheating the last two weeks, boredom and lack of arginine --- I started getting a slight desire to eat something. So I took argninine again today.

So last night when I was at the store getting something else I did buy one of those mediocre pre-made sub sandwiches sold at supermarkets in a counter for cheap. It was huge and was made of the usual slightly stale tasting heavy bread , stuffed with meats and veggies. First time I ate a real meal in 2 mos or so. Even then I only ate about 1/2. I was worried that would trigger my blood sugar to go nuts and Id get super hungry today but its pretty much slightly above avg in hunger today.

The funny thing about what triggered my hunger was that show Verminators. I was watching an episode filled with dead rats and a place filled with cockroaches --- really gross. However the dead rats segment was at some house filled with Vegan females. They forced the exterminator to go vegan for a few weeks if they allowed him to kill the rats. After the two weeks they showed him ravenously eating a burger.

keep the prime rib. it's high in protien and low in calories EEK! instead of pairing it with potatoes pair it with some veggies.

i've never heard of it, but went to http://www.mega-diet.com/diet.shtml and did some research on the ingredients in the supplements. the non-caffeinated supplements are slightly safer, but overall it doesn't look bad. it seems like a good way to jumpstart metabolism without doing a full cleanse.

i also looked at the caloric intake, exercise plan, and the effects with the supplements, it looks like overall if you need to lose 10 lbs or more, you'd lose at a rate of about 3 lbs/week if you follow the diet, intake, exercise, and supplements closely. (avg diet and exercise alone is about 1.2 lbs/week)

Funny...I was anorexic for many years and finally was able to move on (with alot of help) but now, 25 years later, I eat everything sweet in site! I can't seem to stop! Now I am obese! Totally disgusted with myself,. A few years ago, I did Atkins and lost 30 lbs....after a few months off Atkins and stress in life, started eating again and gained more weight than before. Now on ATkins ) trying again day 1 only). Just can't seem to get motivated to exercise, not even walking the dog anymore, just tired! Any helpful hints????? Please!!!!
