I've dicked around with these at WalMart and they always seem to cross-thread in and don't feel like the caps would be the first point of failure on these things every time.
Look like they're still $12.99 on Menard's website. I don't have one even in this state but I'll take a chance price matching it at BBB tomorrow.

Don't have any 7/11s here, but I assume they're pulling the ol' Slick Switch-a-roo where you tell the employee it's just soda. I've refilled my Hydroflask, been literally the only person in the store, while the employee watched me fill it with soda, and then when I get to the counter to pay and they ask what's in it (soda, coffee, icee, etc.). They're oblivious and couldn't care less.
That's a HALF GALLON of coffee, I'm no expert, but I'm sure this growler will outlast you if you drink that much coffee a day. Hey it can then be used as an insulated urn. To keep your ashes warm as long as possible.
