Reviews are pretty good. Note that the going price for this seems to be about $119, so it's a savings of about $20 over elsewhere.

The speaker is fantastic with specs that rival the $200 smart speakers. Even if you only want a good sounding speaker and don't care about how "smart" it is, this works great. As for Cortana identifying songs, it relied on the Groove music database which no longer exists. But Spotify, pandora, and other services work and will have competing features if Apple does decide to make Shazam features exclusive to Apple devices.

That's because a lot of vendors were picking this up cheap because of the sales. If you go to more official vendors like best buy, they're charging msrp of $200.

bought one black friday and IMO its a great sounding speaker with limited capabilities. For $99 its a great Wifi speaker that works great with Spotify. But it currently only works with Spotify, Tunein, and I heart Radio which is extremely limited. I read an article online that soon Cortana will be able to speak to Alexa so that may help with skills down the line. If you need a speaker for Spotify this is a good value. If you need it for more I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Does it require subscription to Spotify, or the free account allows to you to play individual songs? Google home requires a paid subscription for individual songs, albeit you can play them from free on the desktop application from the free account. TIA

Yes, but not as bluetooth mic, last I checked. So, you can play audio from your phone, but can't use it for calls via your phone.
