Amazon has the Kindle versions of several Young Adult YA books on sale for $1.99 each

A Series of Unfortunate Events #1: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VYX8PE/
4.5 stars in 1,8869 reviews

Are you made fainthearted by death? Does fire unnerve you? Is a villain something that might crop up in future nightmares of yours? Are you thrilled by nefarious plots? Is cold porridge upsetting to you? Vicious threats? Hooks? Uncomfortable clothing?

It is likely that your answers will reveal A Series of Unfortunate Events to be ill-suited for your personal use. A librarian, bookseller, or acquaintance should be able to suggest books more appropriate for your fragile temperament. But to the rarest of readers we say, "Proceed, but cautiously."

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00526VVN2/
4.5 stars in 2,1111 reviews

The gripping first installment in New York Times bestselling author Tahereh Mafi's Shatter Me series.

One touch is all it takes. One touch, and Juliette Ferrars can leave a fully grown man gasping for air. One touch, and she can kill.
No one knows why Juliette has such incredible power. It feels like a curse, a burden that one person alone could never bear. But The Reestablishment sees it as a gift, sees her as an opportunity. An opportunity for a deadly weapon.

Juliette has never fought for herself before. But when she's reunited with the one person who ever cared about her, she finds a strength she never knew she had.

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019WVN4O6/
4.1 stars in 357 reviews

New York Times Bestseller * New York Public Library Best Book of 2016 * Chicago Public Library Best Book of 2016 * Kirkus Best Book of the Year

Fans of acclaimed author Kendare Blake's Anna Dressed in Blood will devour Three Dark Crowns, a dark and inventive fantasy about three sisters who must fight to the death to become queen. And don't miss the highly anticipated sequel, One Dark Throne!

In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn't solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it's not just a game of win or lose…it's life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch [amazon.com]
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HYMBNUS/
4.2 stars in 427 reviews

A striking fantasy tale of dark magic, dangerous politics, and discovering your true self—perfect for fans of Game of Thrones, An Ember in the Ashes and A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now the Winterians' only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter's magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.

Orphaned as an infant during Winter's defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, Winter's future king—she would do anything to help Winter rise to power again.

So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter's magic, Meira decides to go after it herself—only to find herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics—and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.

The Thief is great. Gen, the titular Thief, is an engaging narrator, and the story is detailed and cleverly plotted. I won't spoil it, but I will say that it's a book you'll want to re-read with a new perspective once the twist is revealed at the end. Plus the whole Queen's Thief series just keeps getting better from there on out. One of my favorite series and comfort reads. Thanks for sharing OP!

Thirding this! Came into this thread just to recommend this book (and series) and you beat me to it.

Definitely recommended if you're a fantasy fan who hasn't read it yet.

I like dystopian novels typically, but Shatter Me was pretty weak in my opinion. The author must have been paid by the word because like half of every book is completely irrelevant to the plot. Just my opinion though. The idea behind the story is intriguing which made it even more disappointing to me.
