Actually the G7 is the one with the better (faster) lens. The faster lens on the G7 let's in about 1.75x the amount of light when zoomed-in compared to the G9, so potentially you will have fewer motion-blurred images with the faster lens. This faster lens also affects the effective range of the flash (lights up a greater distance).
