Ready Player One

Ready Player One, based on the fantastic Ernest Cline book and directed by Steven Spielberg, is opening on March 29th. The book was one of the best I've read in a long time and this trailer for the movie looks fantastic!

I recommend you read the book or listen to the audio-book, not that you need to before seeing the movie but because it's such a great book it's a joy to read or listen to.

Can you guys sell me on it? Every preview I've seen just looks like some generic kid's computer-science adventure movie which doesn't exactly get me excited. Dontknow

I put the book on my Kindle but I'm not sure I will ever watch the movie. Maybe someday down the road long after I read the book since pretty much every movie I've ever watched after reading the book has been a disappointment to me.

Tron (2010) + Gamer (2009) + some extra ideas from Ernest Cline + CGI = new movie.
I would just borrow my friend phone after they watch the movie.

Some interesting concepts, then. Prob won't want to see it in theaters at this point. Just reminded me of too "Young adult/late teen". That might be completely unfair though.

the book Ready Player One released on 2011.
I'm 99% sure that Ernest Cline just copy ideas from previous movies for his book.
if it's a crappy book, actor, actress. CGI will help to save the movie.

I really liked the book. I'm not sure how they'll preserve the appeal of the book (80s pop culture, video games, etc) but still appeal to a wider audience AND not water it down into generic action flick #536. I won't be rushing out to see this one.

Wow, what a bunch of cynics you all are! I remember when people were happy just to have a Sci-fi or gaming movie come out and we all rushed to the theater to see it, even if it wasn't great (Dune) simply because those movies were so rarely done.

I didn't read the book. I want to see it for all the nostalgia\easter eggs\80's references that I saw in the trailers...but I don't get a chance to see many movies in the theaters. This one will have to wait until it goes digital.

Finished the book I was reading and decided to bump this one up to next on the list. Just a handful of pages in and I'm wanting to dig out my Atari 2600 and look for the Easter Egg in Adventure. I vaguely remember this from back in the day but I don't remember actually finding it.

I saw the trailer in December, and have been psyched for it to come out. <<< Total 80's nostalgia fan.
