Where do you see 3 drivers per side? Drivers listed as 40mm so that seems unlikely.
Also cord is standard stereo jack...not sending 7.1 channels to the headset. Software is emulating

It is intended to function with the USB. The alternate 3.5 Jack is for PS4 or Xbox use, and results in "stereo" sound. I do agree with you that the surround is likely simulated.
If your set does stay working correctly, the directional sound is pretty darn good though.
