You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

That's why they're asking for documentation. if you goofed, you can try reapplying, but you should wait at least 30 days before doing that.

Wow. I didn't know we can use our own name as business name 🙄

That fact has been discussed to death in this thread - in fact, it is the ONLY WAY that most of us (ie. folks without a serious 'legit' business) have gotten approved for this card.

You can try calling the reconsideration line and ask if they can modify your existing application to 'correct' your business name - some people have succeeded, though it is very much YMMV. Otherwise, accept that your application will be rejected and that you wasted a hard pull for nothing and wait 30+ days to reapply.

$2000 shipping charges? OMG.. are you selling things on Amazon or ebay?

Yes, we sell on our website and and on Amazon and ship a lot. That's actually our negotiated rate. Had we been paying retail, it'd have been almost double that.

We ended up applying for the other ink card with 80k bonus and got instant approval. We'll use that solely for shipping and our phone bills because it also introduces cell phone coverage.

As a sole proprietor, your own name IS your business name. I'm not sure why people think simply making something up on a financial form is even an option.

Zero, because Chase has a 1/30 rule for business cards (one card per 30 days). Also, the general rule of thumb for Chase apps is to space them out by a minimum of 2 months, preferably 3.

I could only read through 15 pages until I called it quits. But I didn't see the answer to this question - Could you really get 5% cash back on Amazon/Best Buy/Walmart etc if you buy gift cards from Staples and Office Depot? And wouldn't that make the Chase Amazon card useless?
Yeah you could do this. If you are willing to go through the steps of getting this specific business card, buying the various gift cards at Staples/OD, then using those for purchases, that's definitely an option. A lot of people don't want to go through all that and would rather just get a card which gives them 5% back with zero effort, they can both co-exist.

Worst case scenario it will drop a handful of points, but your score is high enough that this shouldn't affect you on the car loan.

Zero -- wait at least 31 days from last Chase app (wait 2-3 months to space them out if you want to play it safe)

Doesn't matter -- if it was a mortgage in 6mo then you would have to be careful

Thanks OP for this. Applied 10 days ago and got my card yesterday. Already put $4000 on it for a week all inclusive vacation at Jamaica for 2019. Let's see if I'll get the $500 bonus cash back.

Should have applied for 2 diff cards and put 3k on this one (since that's the min spend) and the other 1k + regular expenses on the second card. Hope that 4k vacation includes flights too or you have a lot to learn grashoppa.

980 for the flights and about 3000 for the Sandals Ochi resort for two. Was thinking about applying for southwest(the airline I choose to fly with) credit card and get $150 or $200 off for flights but then I had to deal with the annual fee and pull to my credit score, so I just settle just for the chase ink
