I'm a huge Apple fan but this is still way to high for the oldest model that is not water resistant and has no GPS. Under $100 would be a good deal for this old version, they were that price once awhile back but they sold out super fast and it was said to have been a price glitch. For anybody who really desires a Apple Watch series 2 or 3 is much better but will cost a couple hundred more.
To be fair, most people don't "need" GPS. Water resistance is always a plus but this watch is splash resistant (can wash your hands). It fits most people's needs but I do agree that it should be lower then $150.
I have a seriess1 the wife has a series 2.
They both work great. Speed is about the same.
Battery life is a little better for the series 2.
I don't swim so water proof isn't a necessity.
I don't jog don't need GPS. It does use the phone's GPS
Alerts are the same, IOS is the same.
$149 is a good deal considering the price of the newer models

Thought series 2 was discontinued because it was pointless? Only series 1 and 3 are actively sold. (Might be wrong here)I went from series 0 to 1 and it's HUGE improvement. Series 3 seems like a huge waste of money tbh.

"Series 2 was a significant upgrade over the original Apple Watch, adding GPS connectivity, a much faster dual-core processor, a brighter display, a bigger battery, and improved water-resistance that lets you take it swimming."

Looks like Apple only wants two versions (budget and latest high end) on the market at any given time.

This is not actually the oldest model. The first apple watch was the 1st Gen. This series 1 has a faster processor so it is much more useable than the 1st Gen. You are right about it not being waterproof and the newer versions quite a bit better.

Series 1 (edit: make that series 0) is functionally water proof for me. I swim with it a couple times a month.

Also see: https://youtu.be/kJFci42OO7c

I got this stainless steel series 0 at Blinq for a bit cheaper couple months back if you don't care if it is new and want to save a couple more bucks. Similar deals come up from time to time.

You might be an "huge Apple fan" but have you owned a AW I've had 4 or 5 of them (current owner of 2 a 0riginal and 3 both SS)

You are Wrong, both this and the original models are classed as water resistant per Apple that's means it's ok for getting wet in rain etc and as reviewed by many in aw forums handle swimming (I wouldn't recommend)

Note: no aw is "waterproof"

Per Apple

* Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch (1st generation) have a water resistance rating of IPX7 under IEC standard 60529. Apple Watch Series 2 and Apple Watch Series 3 have a water resistance rating of 50 meters under ISO standard 22810:2010. Classic Buckle, Leather Loop, Modern Buckle, Milanese, and Link Bracelet Bands aren't water resistant.

Regarding GPS if you use it, its worth it i don't like many...........

Like the recent Macy's deal this a great deal for most
