You should note in title or description that only certain accounts can use that code. I tried to apply the promo code and it wouldn't work for my account.

These usually run $100 each on SD. I bought all of mine at $90/each last time it was posted, but $90 requires waiting a long time.

$25/TB isn't that great. The last two NAS drives I purchased were about $18 per TB. But if you need 4 drives today, this isn't the worst deal.

HGST drives have very good reliability rating according to Backblaze stats. Better than WD Reds and Seagates. But one thing of note - I have these in a QNAP NAS and I'm not sure if it's the QNAP or the HGST drives being 7200 RPM but they're very audibly scratchy, clicky. For the time being, I'm living with it but going to test 5400 RPM WDs or Seagates at some point to see if it cuts down on the noise.

On a side note, Synology > QNAP.

I got my 4tb HGST NAS drives based on the backblaze report for longevity. In my limited tests using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test connected to the drives via USB 3.0, these aren't any faster than a WD Green, so I'm not sure the 7200 RPM rating is worth it IMO if that's what you're after. They can also be REALLY loud. My first drive is fairly silent even when writing to it. My second, on the other hand, is incredibly loud. Not clicking like it's dying, but you can hear the head seeking back and forth and even when idle you can hear the platters spinning (I assume). The description sounds worse than it is but even inside a closed cabinet, I can hear it across the room. Just FYI if you're using this for something like a media center, it's possible you'll be able to hear it if you get a noisy drive. This seems to be hit or miss for a lot of users. Still a decent deal on these particular ones though.

it's probably one of newegg's email exclusive deals. Everyone can use it if they are on the newsletter list because its a limit one per account use code.

Thanks. Im using my WD Reds with QNAP as well, but had to get them all replaced (luckily under warranty). Haven't used Synology, but have had no issues with my QNAP TS-251+ thus yet. Mine is in a cabinet, so dont hear the hard drive noise much.

I've has both Synology and qnap, I've found the Synology more problematic than my qnap setups. So many times the Synology was hacked into Bitcoin mining...
