Your OS will run fine, but this is a pretty slow HDD to be running games off of, your load times will be slow. 7200 RPM or a Solid State/Hard Drive hybrid (SSHD) like the Firecuda series would be recommended.

I got the 2tb firecuda for this price a while ago on sale at newegg, if you can wait that might be a better way to go

Common question. Simple answer: density. You can only pack so much data on the medium, based on the technology used. The drive manufacturers keep coming up with better tech to pack more data in a smaller space.

With the developments in SSD tech, they may not be working so hard to increase data density on standard HDs.

2TB at 5,400 rpm for $70 doesn't even seem like a good normal price, let alone for a deal.

Why is this deal being voted up, what am I missing?

You can get a 4TB 7,200 rpm Seagate Barracuda for about $100 without a sale, is the 3.5" vs 2.5" really making the price that much higher?
