Amazon Prime Annual Price Increasing to $119

557 309 April 27, 2018 at 06:15 AM Amazon
I'm not sure where to post this, but given that lots of people did a work-around the last time the price increased, I'm hoping we can do it again.
I was not affected last time as I was renewed before the hike, but this time it's looking like they're going to get me for the $20.

The price will increase from $99 to $119. The change goes into effect on
May 11th for new subscribers, so if you're considering prime... now is the time.
June 16th for existing members.

Here's the previous thread:

I'm hoping somebody that went through it last time can chip in with their experience,
successful or not.

My membership will renew before June 16th. If yours renew after, you can always threaten to cancel to see if they'll make an exception for you.

Inevitable. Still a good deal, although if they keep upping the price it will hit the tipping point soon enough.

Let's see, in 1 year I probably watched a dozen or so movies, maybe half a dozen seasons of various shows and made maybe 50 purchases.

Even at $120/year, it's still worth it for me.

My prime membership is not due for renewal until September. Is there a way to prepay for next year at current renewal rates? for example could I buy a gift prime and use it myself when I am due?

It's worth it for me too. I had 422 orders in 2017.
If I save $20 this time, I'd like to.

Not worth it for me. I might order a half a dozen times a year from Amazon, and many of those orders already get free shipping.

If they decrease the price to $1.19, I might consider.

I don't know if it's been confirmed. I tried it, worst case is it doesn't work. I set mine to deliver two days before current expires.

I typically order ONCE a year from them IF that anymore. Finally burned through most of my remaining gift card credit on there last night/this morning. So unless they offer some insane trade values for old game guides or other shit I got really cheap again I'm pretty much done with them.

My Prime membership expires October 22. I just gifted myself a years worth of prime to begin the day after (October 23). I waited the extra day because their rules state if the recipient is already enrolled in prime they can use the $99 for a gift card. I may be reading the rules to literally but IMO better safe than sorry! I also printed out the invoice showing my email as the gift recipient and the start date.

Amazon said that that will just be considered a $99 GC so in order to enroll in prime, you will still have to front the extra $20.

I've done it before with the gifted prime, have it delivered the day after your prime expires and it works fine. I can't imagine that changing, a bunch of us did this when it jumped from $79 to $99 without any issues, so should be no different with $99 to $119.

While I always hate spending more money for the same service, Amazon actually continues to improve their service at the same time. I get a lot of extra shit which makes it worth it. I easily save $500 a year on shipping alone, not counting the time saved, so even without the service extras, I'd be making out pretty well at the new price too.
