How does the R12 perform compared to others at this price point?
I wasn't planning to buy a sub until our house is finished at the end of June, one less 40 pound item to pack around :-) Is this really that great of a deal or should I hold out until later this summer?
These are superb speakers at this price point. I own the R162 which is generally very highly regarded. Just breaking them in and they sound wonderful. Extremely good value @$200. I own and have owned many speakers - I buy and sell as a hobby. I would even recommend them @ full price. Easily a worthy $450 pair of bookshelves.
I have not heard the sub. The pro reviews including the one I linked are very favorable. For $200 I seriously doubt you can do better.

Ordered the 12" sub! I'll test it as soon as it arrives to make sure I like it.
Is the subwoofer good for large open rooms? Should I wait for the possible Klipsch r115 sale instead? I bought a receiver for a living room that came with ceiling speakers but still don't have a sub. Kinda tired of waiting for a sub deal.

I concur as they are fine speakers at this price point. I'm like you in that I appreciate buying speakers but have the problem of never selling. A bad habit.
Just got a SVS PB1000 and looking for a new home theater setup. Any reasons I should wait for a tower deal instead of getting 2 R162 as front speakers now? I've been waiting for the Polk Signature package deal but not sure if it will ever come up again.
Anyone have any input on how these compare to the older svs sbs-01 set? I'm looking at possibly just changing out the fronts and center with the R162's and the R263. Thanks in advance.

For $200 it's a solid deal with plenty of thump. If you dont have any noise constraints (like apartment or townhouse) I would say go for it.
(like mentioned it's a slightly older model though)
