I have been looking for a weight set for my garage and noticed the Kayak thread has a Dicks 20% off coupon. This ends up being very close to a previous FP deal.

If you follow the coupon link below, you will get 20% off this weight set which is on sale for $189.99. Price ends up being $151.98 plus tax. In store pickup only however. Seems like a really nice price on a well reviewed set.

I have this set. Going to pickup a 2nd. As other have said in the past, only knock is the 45lb plates are smaller in diameter making deadlifts difficult.

Should I grab a set of 45 bumpers then add these for DLs? Assuming between your comment and the previous this should fix the issue.

No. You won't find bumper plate sets for anywhere near this price unless you get really lucky and find a generous person selling used ones for dirt cheap somehow.

That's what I do. Bumpers on the inside then use these on the outside. I'm not a weight dropper so not a big deal for me.

I'd suggest grabbing 4 x 45 lb bumper plates specifically for deadlift or other off-the-ground lifts, while utilizing this 300 lb for additional weights. A good price point for me would be $45 per 45 lb bumper plate. If you can get it for less, it's only a better deal from there.

I bought a similar 300-pound weight set from Amazon about a year ago. It was a one-day lightning deal. (sold and shipped by Amazon.com itself, not 3rd party seller) The price was $207, according to my order history. I remember the day when the Amazon contract delivery company showed up at my door. The was did not look happy at all. Couldn't really blame him... I wasn't home at the time, but my Rind doorbell captured him hauling the thing up tor my door.

I have this set and can confirm that the metal does separate. In addition, the bar flakes chrome off every time you add or remove plates. Good price, but its not a great set. Don't have high expectations, and you should be fine.

Yeah not a weight dropper either, so this works. Never heaved the weider deal from Sears before but this one is cheaper (by a few bucks) plus it's a a few minutes down the road vs an hour.

Got mine for $200 from Sears, happy with the set. 50c a pound is really good. If you buy this go ahead and set up a deal alert for cap barbell... the $200 Boss barbell goes on sale every year or so for around $110, and it's a great bar at that price. Makes a real difference having a decent bar.
