Just FYI the first set minus receiver was going for less than $500 last time it was on sale ("open box" was just a way to bypass MSRP, they're new), so you're essentially paying $400+ for the receiver. Not that you shouldn't buy them now, but if you're only interested in the speakers and can wait, you might be able to get those deals again
Just for reference purposes, the RX-V685 receiver in the first bundle retails for $600, and the RX-A880 in the third bundle retails for $900, and they look like brand new releases.
The speakers in those bundles have previously been $470 and $800 respectively, so you're getting the speakers at their best prices plus $160 and $300 discounts respectively on the receivers.
If you need a brand-new receiver, the $1400 deal looks like the best value. The S60 speakers are supposed to be a full step up over the smaller towers.
for $100 more, dont you think Yamaha RX-A1070BL is a better receiver?

Thousand bucks and I'm still a sub and two speakers away from a 5.1.2 setup. HT stuff is too expensive
Really think so? This stuff lasts for many, many years. I mean for most hobbies $1k just gets you started. You don't have to buy the heights right now.

Yeah I'm just cheap. I'd have hobo foley artists stand in for a surround setup if it were a viable option

Is it better for me to wait it out over this s60 bundle?
My goal is 5.1.2

the open boxes are gone i think... so your best bet is to get this and then sell the receiver... although yamaha makes some very good receivers...
The Yamaha receivers are capable of a wireless rear set setup, but those are specific speakers that support the protocol and are self powered.
