The included lid seals out bugs, rodents and such, but should not be considered air tight. Moisture-proof? IDK what that means...is it water tight?...no. Galvanized to retard rust?...yes.

I use mine to store black oil sunflower seeds and to keep the squirrels out. Squirrels used to eat right into the plastic bins.
