Thanks for sharing. I've been looking for a fridge filter with these specs for a Samsung, and found that version of this brand for same 9.99 price...

After reading reviews, my biggest concern is that these are made in China. Trust that these are legitimate and really do meet all the stated testing, and won't harm the health of my loved ones? Decisions, decisions.

Amazon probably not responsible at this time for the claims on these products from third party sellers..

Also, here is another Chinese filter currently front page here on SD for a little less...

Picked one up for our Whirlpool French door model (UKF8001). Don't need it right away as just changed filter and still have a spare. I'll look over subsequent reviews by more knowledgeable users while I cycle through my stock. If they indicate the quality claims are bogus, I'll toss it, but I suspect it is legit. For ten bucks I'll take a shot.

Heh found this while browsing the NSF certified website.
About $2 lower than eBay prices for the genuine filter.
GE is made in USA while almost all the others are from China.
GE also claims to filter out more stuff:

Agreed, I'm leery of taking a chance of an unknown brand for the sake of saving a few bucks.. Also stuck at a crossroads. Spend the $40 from GE or not..

They are $35 on amazon. There is also a third party claiming to sell genuine ones for $18. https://smile.amazon.com/Genuine-...=p_89%3AGE

I usually buy the HDX (Home Depot brand). Good compromise between paying full price for GE and risking it getting a cheap copycat online, IMO

Thanks! you prompted me to look a little deeper into Amazon and I found that AmazonBasics offers them too. I am going to buy the 'premium' filter.. $3 for $52 is a great deal.

See above. I was about to go the HDX route too, but decided the Amazon brand has always been trust worthy enough to go with, so i'm going to give this a shot.

Amazon Basics says they are "Tested and certified by NSF/ANSI 53"
Does that mean they are as good as the OEMs ?

Thanks for your finding. Good idea to go with Amazon basics 3pack premium.

I am willing to gurantee those $18 ones are fakes. There are other cheap "GE oem" filters for cheap which appear to be fake from the reviews.

This item was first put on Amazon on March 21, 2018. If it was the real thing, it would have been there for years.

Just because it's on Amazon, it doesn't mean it's not a fake.

Once your not getting the real OEM, you might as well pay 10 bucks and get the one from this post. Yours has only one review. This one has two.

What makes you thin Amazon Basics made in China are better than these?

I can show you a name brand for even less. But it's obviously fake.

I bought a "genuine" GE mwf filter off eBay for cheap. It lasted about a month and water tasted terrible....it was a fake! I learned a lesson the hard way....if it sounds too good to be true with filters it is!
