Yes it's an electric multi-cooker; no it's not the name branded "Instant Pot"
Goes to show you that first-world manufacturing can be as shoddy and crappy as LMIC manufacturing.
It was pointed out in that thread that the Fagors were rated #1 best by both Cook's Illustrated andGood Housekeeping [goodhousekeeping.com] testing [goodhousekeeping.com]. (The Lux Max is an upgrade from the Lux they tested).
Fagor [fagoramerica.com] is premium brand that sold for equal or more than the Instant Pot brand equivalent...so it is not cheap off brand stuff.
At least it was not cheap until they announced they were leaving the US. Thus the discounted price. They are not going bankrupt so technically the warranty should still be in effect....but certainly as the other thread discussed...getting repairs or parts may be problematical. Instant Pot has the premium part of the market sewed up..so I am not surprised Fagor is leaving.
Until earlier today the priceof this 8 quart model on Amazon was $144 [amazon.com] (and had been for a while, down from the original $180 Amazon price). It just dropped to $85...perhaps by trans shippers from NE making a profit.
I am not shilling this...but I bought one of the 6 Quart models that is on the way. $55 seems to be a very nice price for an 8 Quart from a premium brand, but you have to judge whether it is a good bet or not since it is a close out discontinued brand.
The 6 quart sold out very fast...but of course this 8 Quart is $20 more.
Yes, Fagor America is shutting down, but the product is solid. Replacement gaskets are available. The *potential* for warranty/support issues isn't ideal, but that shouldn't undercut the purchase decision at this price IMO. I bought one - giving my 6qt version to my brother.

The OP fixed it.
I agree it is an excellent deal. The 6 Quart thread was front page so there is no reason beyond the title mistake for so many negs. But that is enough to do it.

Got it- that mistake was corrected before I got here. Hoping this gets pushed back to FP where it belongs.
I see the price on Amazon has dropped today to $70 [amazon.com]
Amazon 3rd parties were selling this Lux Max model for $144 til Aug 31 when it dropped to $85...my guess is its by drop shippers.
I received my 6-Quart version today and am very pleased.
Build quality and features seem comparable to my Instant Pot Duo60...it actually has a couple of modes, brown and simmer, the Duo60 does not have. I have not tried it yet.

It's still live at Newegg for $50.
My 6qt came tonight. seems pretty sturdy and 5 dollars cheaper than ALDI house brand, so I figured why not
On a side note....I see that America's Test Kitchen's Multi-Cooker Cookbook is now on sale atAmazon for $2 in Kindle format. [amazon.com] ($13 and up elsewhere). It has a Fagor Multicooker on the cover photo (they rated a Fagor #1 best multicooker).
These are supposed to come with a free recipe eBook but the link is not working, I have a support email into them to see if it is still a valid download. Update....Fagor responded very quickly and sent me the eBook which is called the Lux/Lux Max recipe book and has 120 recipes.
