Hi Guys,
EDIT: 9/1/18. SORRY FOR MY WRONG COMPUTATION!
For those who are looking for a 144hz refresh rate and gtx1060 6gb with thunderbolt 3. Check the link below to configure your laptop from HP (HP OMEN 2018 with nice thin vezel specifically) and Free Shipping. I configured mine as:
-i7 with gtx 1060 6gb
-8gb RAM
-144hz screen
-1TB hdd 7200rpm with 128gb SSD
It totaled to $1469.99. However, you can add 20% discount if your order is more than $1399.99. So mine ended up to $1175.99 plus $104.37 tax a total of $1280.37.
Moreover, if your order is more than $1799.99, the discount will be 25%
DISCOUNT CODE:
15% off orders $899+ with code 15GAMER
20% off orders $1,399+ with code 20GAMER
25% off orders $1,799+ with code 25GAMER

Is it better than acer predator helios 300? To me yes. I mean look at the vezel on the predator, it's huge. Plus the predator helios doesn't have thunderbolt 3 and this one has it. And the price is not much of difference when you put in all the discount code in HP and you get a better looking laptop with thunderbolt 3.

Yea I'm sorry I got really excited when I posted this so I made some wrong computations. They don't actually include the labor day discount if you add the 20% discount.

Use Top Cashback to purchase HP gift cards from Raise (2% back + 6.2% off).
Then use Top Cashback and giftcards to purchase laptop at HP (10% off).
The only bad points:
The front edge of the wrist rest area has a fairly sharp edge that feels bad if the laptop is higher than it should be. If your laptop is at the proper height and your wrist are elevated slightly, you won't encounter it.
There's only a single USB port on the left and right sides. I would really prefer two on each side.
The programmable macro keys on the left side - I frequently hit the P1 key when I want the ESC key. I'm sure I'll get used to it, or just program P1 to do ESC.
The good points:
Very metal, very premium feel, especially with the mechanical keyboard.
You can turn off all the fancy lighting, or make it super custom.
Not a ton of bloatware. Just the standard McAfee and MS Office Trials, there might be a couple more, but not bad, compared to other laptops I've worked on and set up for friends/family. I think there's more bloatware that is part of every Win10 install than was added by HP.

Where'd you get it and how much was it as refurbished?
Here's the actual one purchased - https://computers.woot.
No more available now, but there are a couple minor variations of the 1070-powered version available. Stay away from the previous models, which are also available for a couple hundred less at the same place - https://computers.woot.
