Amazon has the 256GB version of MyDigitalSSD M.2 SATA SSD for $59.99, or the 128GB version for $34.99.
This is a M.2 2242 short version suitable for some Chromebooks, Direkt-Tek laptops from Walmart or Trekstor Primebook C11.

Microsoft is quite inept in its OS size - chromebook, android, macos, linux all use far less.
There are not many m2 2242 sellers, and few sales. Some Chinese sellers/brands have it cheaper but I am not convinced to go cheap. MyDigital is a good brand (rebranded Intel?), good reviews.

but Newegg has a couple options in the large (512gb) size.
That gives them pretty massive onbord storage possibilities, with the 2.5" bay plus the two m.2 2280 slots (one being nvme) and the m.2 2242 slot rounding things off.
