I am picturing conditions when it is absolutely necessary to take your phone in water. For light conditions, something as simple as a ziploc could work . Only advantage of this I would think of is hanging on your neck.

In the product page, just one question asking whether it fits the Samsung Note 8 and the seller has replied saying 'NO' as Note 8 is bigger than 6". But then the product picture showing dimension is so misleading. The diagonal size in the product picture says 7.5" and note's diagonal size is 6.3". And then only one review.

Id say its pretty much necessary any time you are out on the water by yourself. Never know what kind if situation you can get into or more importantly for when you catch that fish of a lifetime.
