I'm a Sprint user on the $25 BYOD unlimited plan.
This plan and the free year require you to bring your own device, but you're also able to buy a phone at full price out right from Sprint.
Sprint does have deals on their phones once the new model comes out.
The Moto Z2 Force is still being sold at $120.
So I've been logging into my account once a week to see if any phones get a significant reduction.
The V30+ has been reduced to $360.
Not the best price reduction ever but close enough for me to bite.

I'm a Sprint customer on my free year (taxes and fees@$3.73/month). My phone is about gone. Any idea how this would work for me?
But the phone can be boot loader unlocked. And you can install the US998 ROM which unlocks it for GSM. Check XDA.

Actually, if you are on the Kickstart plan it will be 12 months. Regular account is 50 days. They wouldn't unlock my Kickstart phone after 90 days.
Sprint unlocked my lg g5 but you cannot add apn settings. Bunch of idiots. Just voice and text working. Useless full unlock 😁
