This is actually a really not bad deal. It's the standard for what a entrance gaming desktop should be like and priced. Really well balanced.
The Ryzen 7 version of this only $200 more and provides double the RAM (16GB), 50% faster CPU.

But it's not a direct comparison. Someone with a $600 budget may not have $850 to spend.

I bought this one a few weeks back, really great performer, every game I run is at least 60fps on high settings. One word of caution though, there is zero room for expansion, only replacement. The only unused port is x1 slot, and it's so close to the GPU that any card you install will cover the GPU fan at least partially if not completely. I did upgrade the SSD to the HP EX920 that has been on sale on SD and that gave it a nice boost in performance.

Did you feel there was enough room for cooling? A couple of the reviews mentioned that in addition to being tight under the hood. Haven't had a desktop in years and need a solid one to run a bunch of design programs.

I see: "Open-Box: from $479.99". If you can get one of those in good condition in your local store, it would be a killer deal. Otherwise, I'd pass on it. It doesn't make sense to combine this CPU with a discrete graphics card: You are settling for a slower CPU while wasting the integrated graphics.

The 2400g also forces the rx580 to run at pcie 3.0 x8 instead x16

Is the Ryzen 7 worth an extra $50 if you give up the ssd? I get the impression that the power supply and layout make upgrades unlikely.
