I haven't done the maths but he might be considering 30% & 10% stack but that doesn't seem to be the case from the kind person who mentioned above. Also, another possibility might be the GC he bought might have been discounted at the store [may be some sale?]

how long does it take for the Chase cashback to come? I had a panera 30% back and used it few days back, but no cashback as of now.

their system is so bad, in Amex at least you get a trigger when you use an offer.
