I'm looking for candidates for my next brewing.

My current one is still bubbling slightly while in secondary since I brought the temp up.

I'm home early from work and am drinking a Berkshire Coffeehouse Porter. Matt, if this is anything like your porter, I would brew this one next. Oh man is it awesome.
never had it before.. maybe ask mal/rybal when they drink my coffee porter

typically i don't use the pilsner malt, but i ran out of 2 row and had to fall back and punt. also, i normally boil for 75 mins, since there's normally no pilsner malt in it.
How do I scale that to a 5 gallon batch?

i'd scale it to a 6 gallon batch. divide the grain bill by 11, multiply by 6. for the hops, just cut them in half.

edit... for that grain bill, i'd do 10# of 2-row and 1# of crystal 10L

yeah, once the it starts boiling, i set the timer for 15 mins, then add bittering hops and that is the start of my 60 min boil.

typically its very smart to do over 60 min boil in case of dms....and if you use pilsner malts, must be over 90min...i do the same thing as brian, once i see a boil i usually wait a good 10-15 minutes then start my 60min hop addition

i am starting the night off tasty, 90min ipa drool

i don't really do the extra time for DMS. i do it for the foam to knock down. if you throw the hops in as soon as it begins to boil, the foam keeps the hops out of the wort.

I'm just curious mr. homebrewer brian, are there recipes out there that approximate the flavor of all the regular domestics like budweiser, bud light, etc.?

Beer for you, I don't think you got the joke in the other thread Sadwalk

Thanks for looking out, I missed that in my normal searches. I actually sent them an email as I was commuting to San Diego today for a convention. I didn't get a response back by the time I headed home though so oh well.

I've been looking for a carboy and that would have been pretty much the price of a new carboy plus a few goodies on the side.Scratchchin
