Freeup Mobile's existing free plan of 500 talk/text with 100 MB data has been changed to now 1000 talk/text with no data. Great for people who just need to talk and text. The 1000 allotment is any combination of talk/text. Runs on the AT&T network.

DEAD. DEAD. No more free plan. As of December 12, 2019.
DEAD. Now only 250 minutes for new sign-ups.
DEAD: Using Rewards Points

Just a heads up for those still have the Freeup free plan. My account status suddenly said "cancelled" on website and I ended up talking to their customer service, and the guy said you will have to call in every month to renew the plan.
Anyone know other cheap / free alternative (not VOIP) for backup phone?

I checked mine on "Account Summary". I don't see anything of the sort.

Mine was due for next renew, so I logged to account and saw it. all options were grey out on website. after talking to the customer service, they mentioned we must call in to their number to renew. Good luck, let's see how it goes next month...

The new FreedomPop under RedPocket? It's lame for what is now free (10 minutes, 10 texts?, 25 MB LTE), but at least there is a free tier. And it's no longer VoIP based for the calls or that you need the app for calls, native dialer now.
I'm currently using the 500min/text and 100gb lte data. Tried using the apn settings, and it says 200mb free. Tried going to a website and it tells me that I don't have data. Anybody know why? Oh, phone calls work btw.

Data was discontinued on the free plans quite a while ago. The web site/account page doesn't reflect that as you found.

I hvave the same plan and it doesn't seem to include any data now.
i got in on the 1000 minutes/texts and no data plan but now the plan is changed to just 250 minutes and 250 texts. still fine for what I need it for, but pretty worthless as anyone's main phone.
i gave one to my 80 year old dad for his glovebox in case of emergencies. I keep one as a burner phone for my wife. She's a veterinarian and sometimes has to make calls to people that she really doesn't want having her personal phone #
Login today (1/23/2022) and cannot see the option to renew the free plan for the next month, Does anyone have the same experience? Wonder if freeup is ending its free plans for me only.

I think you're a day early, I just renew mine today, is still working.
