To be fair, if you updated a HDD in a laptop to this SSD, most won't notice the difference between this from 2016 and a Samsung from 2018 at twice the price.

The only criterion to look at for these price levels is reliability and longevity.

All I know is I mistakenly bought a PNY CS1111 256GB drive a while back , and got rid of it quickly with an old laptop.. The difference with my Samsung 850 Evo 256gb was extremely noticeable.

Just bought a Crucial MX500 500GB for $54 shipped off (no tax) of Google Express yesterday using the 20% off new user coupon.. The MX500 is in Samsung territory performance wise. So for less than $18 more, you can get twice the space, longer endurance, and much better performance,
