It is unlike anyone will ever win or stop arguing about name brand versus 'value' tools. Personally, I wouldn't have the tools or number of tools I have if I had to pay name brand prices for many of them. I certainly wouldn't have 1/2 a billion welding clamps.

BUT,.. this is the HF coupon thread.

If you have a tool that you believe is a better value than the comparable HF tool, by all means, post up the deal. If you have a HF tool that was the total sh&t, by all means, post up the failure.

Little birdy just told me a coupon is forth coming for the Memorial day weekend. Watch for it at registers. I know you had to ask or just grab one here because cashiers didn't mention it.

Very good points there. I have yet to find stuff from HF that is total crap, well today I bought the razor blades which are utter dull $#!t. On the other hand I have the electric impact wrench, which is phenomenal. I have also bought all the torque wrenches except for 3/4". They click, it is very easy to feel and hear the click, very happy with them. I have the 3 ton floor jack which is great too. Jack stands are fine, and their rubber tops ($9.99) are great for small cars. The 1/2" deep impact sockets are great too.

Hmmmm maybe I will take a look at that tomorrow, about to remove a bunch of foam from inside a boat hull and that sounds handy for $20.
That will make short work of it for sure!

I always try to check http://hfreviews.com/ to see before I buy something, seems to be a fair site for HF reviews

The old school 231, I learned my lesson about holding it with one hand the first time!

Night and day. The 2131 and 2135TiMAX are nothing like the 231 (which is comparable at 5.8 lbs in weight to the CF Earthquake 1/2" at 6.0 lbs).

Well, it's anecdotal consumer reviews, so it's not really reliable.

FWIW, I checked a couple of reviews for tools we use a lot, such as the hammer drill, and the reviews were not accurate.

I saw someone post earlier in the thread about the electric impact wrench item#68099 going on sale at a sidewalk sale for 34.99. I thought i rememberred seeing a coupon for one for 34.99 within the past month. Does anyone remember that coupn or have a copy?

Thank you

Really? That's a bummer. I was hoping for a 25% off coupon like the other holidays.

has anyone ever tried to get Home Depot or Lowes to accept (price-match) the 20% Off coupons ?

Any success?

I have had great success with the 20% off at lowes in Tucson. I definately cashier profile and look at who the manager is when i go in. They will only accept the coupon on tools not lumber or paint.
