Go with the Canon. I have the HP and like it but the Canon is the exact same machine and made in the same factory. I believe HP actually borrowed the design from Canon for the print engine and put their own shell. Needless to say the Canon has a longer warranty of 3 years vs the HP of 1 year. Toner and the Printer unit is also slightly cheaper for the Canon. Glad I helped

I buy genuine toner off of eBay. None of the generics work well and I really need the quality for my work so I have to buy genuine

When I must choose, I usually go with amazons choice. Never regretted. Price isn't everything sometimes. Over the years, we all have wasted too much on so called deals, in essence we only are looking for a good value. For $300 spending the last thing you want is can't wait to replace it after used for a few months.
In fact, this model is a newer model from brother replacing the previous AIO 9340CDW that was a very hot item to find. https://slickdeals.net/e/8514857-brother-mfc9340cdw-color-laser-all-in-1-printer-w-duplexing-180-free-shipping
The reputation preceded, Canon tends to be too loud and HP's expensive cartridge, while brother 9340CDW just works. Really curious what Brother has upgraded in this model.
Thanks!
Thanks
Due to a move I had to sell my color Dell ((C1760NW)) printer which I bought for around $80 and was wondering if there was another printer around that price that I can replace it with?
It's gotta have 3rd party toner replacements to reduce TCO.

For photo scanning, generally you are better off with a dedicated photo scanner.
Personally I thought Canon did a much better job at copying the color accurately especially in dynamic range which Brother completely missed the mark on some of the grey areas that turned out plain white. However when looking at white text on gray background, the sharpness goes to Brother, although you can read both in person easily.
Given the size difference of the two units (Brother is quite a bit larger and heavier than Canon) plus the fact that colors are not coming out as crisp out of the Brother, I'd say Canon is a winner imho but others might well disagree. Especially if you factor in the cost of toner replacement and how much it will cost per page to print on each of these printers. Canon's high0yield black toner is rated for up to 2,800 pages while Brother's is 3,000. For color Canon is rated up to 2,200 pages while brother is around 2,300 but the latter might be cheaper.
Hoping this will drop to $200 price again soon because our current printer isn't really printing color all that well (monochrome is still fine) and we are eager for faster speeds all around, duplex printing and scanning, etc. that both of these two models have.
