So that's an extra assurance/insurance should they fail in the many years down the road. Not that this would!

What is their policy for them?
I reckon the AV receivers fall under their generous return policy.
I don't see them listed here (from Costco's site):
Electronics: Costco will accept returns within 90 days (from the date the member received the merchandise) for Televisions, Tuner-Free Displays, Projectors, Major Appliances (refrigerators above 10 cu. ft., freezers, ranges, cooktops, over-the-range microwaves, dishwashers, washers and dryers), Computers, Touchscreen Tablets, Smart Watches, Cameras, Aerial Cameras (drones), Camcorders, MP3 players and Cellular Phones (return details will vary by carrier service contract).

Is it worth it at this price though? They are definitely not flying off the shelves at my local Costco.
It is an amazing, feature packed quality receiver. I have on and just bought my in-laws one at this price.

Is that like Kohl's, where as long as I have the receipt, I can return a product well past it's warranty period?

I'm wondering the same thing. I need just 5.1 but wondering if the cheaper receivers I was looking at don't support as many audio codecs as this probably does. If I can return down the road when this fails past it's mfg warranty, then it is probably worth the extra $120 to $140, since I would eventually get it back.
If you aren't a Costco member, check to see how their return policy applies to non-member purchases.
It doesn't. I wouldn't buy a non Aventage Yamaha
It is identical to the rx-v line. I did a lot of research on this when purchasing mine. For $399, it is an amazing receiver. Aventage is in a different league that most standard users won't notice. I am using this for a primary 7.1 family room setup with in-wall Polk Audio RT series speakers and it blows everyone away. For the more discerning guests, I take them to the dedicated room running Emotiva separates.
Most will love this AV Receiver. Have had zero issues with mine and running a lot of 4k streaming as well as limited 4k on DirecTV.
