Samsung 82NU8000 $1899 with promo email code.

Fry's stores will be giving out 40 20% off coupons at open Sunday. Mention "SundayFrys20" to the greeter. I was able to use 20% on Samsung 55nu8000 few days ago with no problem. If your lucky with a 20% off code you can have it for $1519.20. GL!

I see the thread on that 82 Q6FN. That's not in my promo email. Not sure if this is region specific but i'm in Las Vegas.

I see the 82nu8000 $1899 in the Sunday only ad emailed to me. The Q6 deals and the 65nu8000 are in the weekly deals.

FYI, the 75nu8000 is on sale for $1249

Obligatory Samsung TV Public Service Announcement.

Samsung TV's force advertisements to your TV and there is nothing you can really do to stop it other than disconnecting the TV from the internet.

I found the following out the hard way, after purchasing, and then returning, an NU8000 Series Sammy TV.

When you hit the "home" button on the remote, that brings up what is called a "Smart Hub". On the bottom left hand corner of the smart hub you will be shown advertisements from online services to retailers. These ads will show up every time you hit the home button and bring up the smart hub. My Samsung NU8000 was showing advertisements for home depot and other retailers. ON TOP OF THAT..... they pre-download 30 second high definition advertisements to your TV. If you accidently hit the select button on the remote while you move the cursor over these advertisements, the add WILL IMMEDIATELY PLAY, in all it's high def glory. I did not measure the actual bandwith they were using, but it's a 1080P To 4K Signal for per 30 second ad. If you have data caps, (Such as comcast), these ads could potentially push you over your data cap. (Which means you are now paying your ISP more money so Samsung can force ads on you).

I spent a few hours trying for a workaround, and there is none. I spent 2+ hours on the phone with Samsung, and they are of no help. You spend thousands of dollars on a TV and you either own the hardware or you do not. In Samsungs view, it is not your hardware. Samsung uses hardware that you paid for, electricity that you pay for, internet bandwith that you pay for, to force ads on you.

IMHO this practice would be totally reasonable if they were up front about it offered the TV 2 ways, the TV at a higher price, with no ads, or the TV at a lower price, ad supported, and that would be reasonable. But the fact of the matter is when you go to the stores to look at these TV's, they are all in demo mode, and there are no ads on the TV while it is in demo mode. The salespeople will also play dumb if you ask them about the ads.

There is another problem with the Samsung TV, and this is important if you have children. As part of the smart hub there is an app that is called a TV Guide. This app is not deletable or movable. If you open up this TV Guide, you will be shown a list of movies for rent from various places (IE Amazon, Hulu, Youtube ect). These are pay movies. (IMHO, these are also ads since there is no option to delete). What makes this bad is many of the movies are PG13 and R rated. When this TV Guide comes up, you are shown the box cover art for these movies. The box cover arts are also PG13 to R rated. If you have no children, this will likely not bother you. If you have young children, they will see PG13 to R rated images. My 4 year old daughter accidently saw a picture for some horror movie where a womans face was completely cover in cuts and blood. Needless to say she became upset over it. IMHO, it would be totally reasonable if you could simply delete this app from the home screen, but Samsung does not allow you to delete this. Again this is your hardware, your electricity, and your bandwith, to force ads on you.

THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN ANY OF THIS OFF WITHOUT DISCONENCTING THE TV FROM THE INTERNET ALL TOGETHER!!!

Disconencting the TV from the internet also causes problems. There are 2 ways to disconect the TV from the internet, both cause problems.

1. Simply do not connect to your home network. When you do this, all smart features will no longer work. Every time you hit the home button, which is necessary to do in order to do things like change sources, there will be a large green box that takes up approximately 1/3rd of the overall TV screen prompting you to connect to the internet so that you can accept the terms of service.

2. Allow the TV to connect to the internet. Then, go into your router and blacklist all known samsung ads servers via your routers firewall. This will get rid of the big green box that pops up every time you hit the home button. However, in the upper right hand corner of the TV you will get a network error message that pops up every couple of minutes. A major annoyance. Doing this also disables apps that you may want to work on the TV. For example, I have amazon prime, so of course I would want the Amazon movie and music apps to work. If you blacklist samsung servers through your router, this will also block the TV's outgoing connection to other app services such as Amazon. The reason being is Samsung tracks everthing you watch. When you open up say the Amazon app, what you are doing is opening up a connection between your TV and a Samsung Server, and then Samsung will open up a connection between itself and Amazon (or whichever app you are trying to use). Samsung then builds a profile on you, and sells that information to advertisers.

Finally, the Terms of Service regarding advertisements.

There is confusion in the TOS regarding ads, and this is done on purpose. There is a spot in the TV's TOS where you can opt out of what is called "interest based ads". But there is no spot where you can opt out of ads in general. Interest based ads are the ads you are shown by Samsung direclty tracking and monitering your viewing habits. If you opt out of these, Samsung will supposedly not show you interest based ads. (There is no mention if they will stop tracking your viewing habits). There is no way to opt out of ads all together other than not connecting the TV to the internet (which causes problems) or not buying the TV all together. Aside from that. I did find the TV to have a good picture, and the remote control is nice and intuitive. If you do not have young children, and if you do not mind being ads shown to you at your expense, then it is a nice set. If any of this bothers you, then do not buy a Samsung tv.

The 20% in-store coupon does not apply to Samsung TVs. Checked in a Sunnyvale, CA store.

the 20% coupon is YMMV. The coupon literally says "Excludes some Sony, Bose, Samsung, Nikon, LG, Tempur-Pedic & Go -Pro"

I was able to stack it.
