So they gave us the all clear on the jaundice and I've been letting him feed 'on demand' as they say, which is much more pleasant. But now he's not gaining weight as well. So that's my concern. I'm afraid maybe I'm missing some of his hunger cues? He doesn't seem to indicate that he wants to eat until he's really, really hungry.

As long as he has plenty of wet diapers you should be good. I think any weight gain is progress. The only other suggestion might be to make sure he gets that really fatty hind milk. So if you wake him up to feed him, he might nod off before the hind milk. If you'd prefer to pm, I'd be glad to help if I can. I bottle fed my first 3 and am nursing my baby girl. HTH!\n \n
