Remember to secure your IP camera system from cyber attacks.

1) Do not port forward
2) Disable UPnP on your router
3) Disable P2P on your router
4) Run OpenVPN on your router if you want remote access ( best to just not connect the NVR and cameras to the internet )
5) Use appropriate firewall services running on your router

Also got a 4tb instead of 2tb. Was getting the conf.LoginErrorNo-18 message for each cameras on the NVR. After a couple hours of frustration I got it to work after downloading the Dahua config tool to reset each ip cam password. So much for plug and play

larger kit deals here:

See the single camera thread about more info on the cameras in the kit
https://slickdeals.net/f/12881920-q-see-qcn8093b-dahua-oem-ipc-hfw1831e-4k-8mp-ip-poe-bullet-camera-108-00

Many decent deals at Q-see with the 40% off.

I know the Dahua OEM product line better than some of the newer cameras / NVR which I understand are by another OEM, uniview ( as iirc sam88 mentioned )

update:
Look for the Dahua OEM junction box PFA121 to go with these cameras. Q-see may also have accessories ( update I found none on their website ). That will help protect the connections from the environment.

Note the lorex boxes for "4 screw" base cameras are Dahua OEM PFA121, so they will also work see part numbers ACJNCD4BKB, S1JF2G, ACJNCD4B

Junction boxes are not required, but very nice if you can not stuff the cabling back into the wall / soffit

HI Steely12

No, unfortunately not.

US customers who do not know enough want more MegaPixels, Wider FOV - so vendors fill that want even though it is not the best setup for a security camera system in many cases.
( and now they want to chit-chat, with lights, alarms, and bells and whistles and alexa or siri )

Still for the price, and the fact that they are 8MP cameras - they do a very good job in low light conditions.

You can augment this kit by swapping out one of the 8 cameras with a Dahua OEM 2MP starlight camera.

I was looking at lorex hoping to find a good comparison of an 8 channel NVR + 8x "4K" 30 fps cameras.

Closest so far:
4K Ultra HD IP NVR System with 8 Outdoor 4K 8MP IP Cameras, 200ft Night Vision
4KHDIP88NB ( not the newer 30 fps cameras - still good cameras, but not as good for comparing the 2 kits )
https://www.lorextechnology.com/4...IP88NB-1-p
$1,499.99

https://www.lorextechnology.com/4...IP164i-1-p
$1,749.99

https://www.lorextechnology.com/4...IP168i-1-p
$2,279.99

Lorex typically has a 15% off code - so consider that when comparing your options.

Looking around a bit and this is my take
Summary:
This is about 50-60% less than other vendors for something similar. Good solid kit. Expect to take some time online looking at the Dahua wiki and videos to help figure out the NVR software and settings. Note Q-see uses some different IP configurations than Dahua so keep that in mind when looking at info online. It is not hard, but like many software products there are a lot of options and switches you can adjust. best deal so for imho for a higher performing kit in 2019. ( same applies to the larger kit https://slickdeals.net/f/12882739-q-see-dahua-oem-16-channel-4k-nvr-w-4tb-hdd-12-4k-ultra-hd-bullet-cameras-qc826-12hf-4-1380 )

Hi Meganks,

Yes - it does appear to be so. ( again, it is hard to be certain and I am mostly going on what I see in the specs and camera model appearances )

NVR hardware maybe the same - or perhaps even the next model up.

side note: Also I have little experience with Q-see customer service - so when I am doing comparisons I am leaving out issues like that.

@mat2000 How does this compare to the LeChange from Fry's? I bought that last year and really like the 4k quality for my business. Interested in getting another 4k set for my other business.

Hi Cheapa55,

Both are Dahua OEMs - hardware wise close comparisons, the LeChange kit cameras had smaller sensors but could do 3 streams and 15 fps vs this one which the cameras should perform better at night due to the larger sensor, plus it can also 30 fps - however that costs you some compute power and so you only get 2 streams and iirc only a couple of IVS features ( the main 2 tho - so good for me )

I would recommend this or the 16 camera kit from Q-see, or if you need a larger one the Costco Q-see deal discussed in the 16 camera thread.

As always, thank you for the reply and great info. I like the LeChange kit since it was 16 channel with 8 cameras so room for expansion. Here it's 8/8 (no room for expansion) or 16/12 (too many cameras)

Thank you OP so much. In for the 8-camera kit. TU and Repped.

Wanted something with an audio feed. Also wanted something with a much much narrow FOV to grab license plates and face close-ups. So might try to replace 2 of these cameras with something that fits that bill.

Hey Mat2000! Thanks for the post, been waiting on a good NVR deal.

What are your thoughts on this 4K 16 channel deal on qsee?

https://q-see.com/collections/ip-...n-h164k5-8

The bullet cameras look different than the ones you posted. It also only comes with 6, but does have 2 dome cameras. I really want a 16 channel system, but if the cameras aren't as good then I'll probably just bite on the 8 channel system. The other 16 channel system you posted is a bit out of my price range.

Anyone have any experience with the advertised "hassle free returns"? From what I can see they make you pay for return shipping, doesn't seem hassle free.

Thanks Force41,

I would definitely do the same for a location or 2 ( w/ a Dahua OEM 2MP starlight to cover critical spot or 2 at night )

Hi Keepinitslick

I'm still learning about the other OEM products ( such as that kit you've referred to ), so I have very little knowledge about those.

I'm certain they're a good deal if the deal is anything like the one in the main post.
