If you currently have any kind of Saphire personal card that is active, you will NOTqualify for bonus points, even if you are approved.
If you close your Saphire card recently, you will need to wait 48 months from the date you received the previous Saphire bonus before applying to get the new card's bonus points.
Be careful not to waste a hard credit pull
Chase T&C:
"The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products."
95 af is not waived for first year basically previously it was 50k with 95 waived first year now it's 60k with 95 af so pretty much the same
Also I'll get csr rather than csp if you spend 3400+ in travel, dining etc
It is pretty straightforward. When you use your card for ANY travel purchase (like Airbnb, airfare, hotels, Lyft, Uber, parking, some tolls, and many others), you will automatically be reimbursed, until you've spent a total of $300 on travel. In other words, Chase will pay for the first $300 in travel you spend each year with your card.

Actually applied today without looking at slickdeals and got the we'll get in touch with you message. First time chase does this for me . Was planning on using it for a trip now not sure if to wait or just buy the tickets.
I have had the CSR card for just over a year. I am not sure the $150 (after travel credit) is worth it this year for me (I will use the CSR next year).
1. How long after the $450 annual fee post do we have to cancel?
2. Will cancelling result in any negative effects next year when I reapply? I realize I will not get the points bonus.
3. What will happen to returns posted to this card after cancelling?

There's no reason to cancel- just downgrade it to a no fee card ideally one that'd otherwise be useful to you (freedom, freedom unlimited, etc). Then you can always upgrade it next year. Also saves you needing to move points around.
and the perks are good while travelling, but have to careful of local fees getting added on to you bill,
and also convertion amount is a bit less, but its okay unless you are spending like crazy, also points
the local fees might be killer though, i got added like four percent once, i was like what the fark
When traveling abroad make sure you are billed in the country currency (not usd), otherwise the merchant/bank is charging fee and you get a very bad exchange rate.
"All you must do is refuse to sign any check or receipt not expressed in the local currency."

I have the freedom card, and I'd like to avail of the opening bonus for freedom unlimited.
Is there an advantage to downgrading vs cancelling and reapplying next year?
Moving points between CSR and freedom is super easy.

What fees?
Did you tell them to pay in USD and not local currency?

You can downgrade to a second freedom card- and then have a $3000 cap each quarter to earn 5x instead of only $1500.
Also it avoids you taking another hard pull (and potential denial/account review) later to open a "new" CSR with no bonus.
Also maintains your credit limit, so your utilization doesn't rise from removing some of your available limit.
when i used it, i got hit with a bit big, local merchant fees.
i was pretty busy, so i didnt fight it out, as they said, call the bank
