If you currently have any kind of Saphire personal card that is active, you will NOTqualify for bonus points, even if you are approved.
If you close your Saphire card recently, you will need to wait 48 months from the date you received the previous Saphire bonus before applying to get the new card's bonus points.
Be careful not to waste a hard credit pull
Chase T&C:
"The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products."
95 af is not waived for first year basically previously it was 50k with 95 waived first year now it's 60k with 95 af so pretty much the same
Also I'll get csr rather than csp if you spend 3400+ in travel, dining etc
It is pretty straightforward. When you use your card for ANY travel purchase (like Airbnb, airfare, hotels, Lyft, Uber, parking, some tolls, and many others), you will automatically be reimbursed, until you've spent a total of $300 on travel. In other words, Chase will pay for the first $300 in travel you spend each year with your card.

I just got denied for the Sapphire card with a good standing credit history and a 750 credit score. Has anyone else been denied recently with good credit? Are they tightening amounts of new credit issuing due to covid19 uncertainty?
Good credit is required, but only one factor.
Did you apply for the Preferred or Reserve?
The Reserve is a premium card which has a minimum credit line of $10,000. So it would require a longer and thicker credit history and higher income. In addition to a high score.
The Preferred has a minimum credit line of $5,000. So in general, it's easier to get. But still require more than a CC (say Capital One or Discover) that offers lower credit limits.
Chase has the infamous 5/24 rule. If you have opened 5 new credit cards within the last 24 months from any bank, they will not approve you for a new card. There are a couple exceptions for business cards, targeted offered, etc. But otherwise it can be a big factor.
If you feel you have the credit history, score, income and haven't opened CC's recently, call the "reconsideration line". It could be an algorithm mistake that a human can fix. Or once things reopen, go talk to them at a Chase branch.
When I called a couple weeks ago, they said nothing for the preferred. Hoping someone gets an update since this is changing frequently it seems.
At $95 AF I'd be surprised if they offered anything. Besides, while it is considered a travel card it doesn't have a ton of features you are paying for but can't use now due to restrictions (like the Reserve).
Also, in general, Chase is much less apt to offer retention bonus than say American Express. It's almost expected with Amex (especially for the platinum) and even a sort of yearly strategy for some card members.

It would be the 5/24 rule then as I apply for a new CC generally every 4-6 months. I wasn't aware that's a rule and don't usually leave open balances unless there's 0% intro APR going on. Thanks for that info!

Yea....it's as I say "infamous". So those that want several Chase CC's have to have a strategy.
And just FYI, it's not about balances or anything (in regards to the 5/24 rule). It's literally about opening new CC's.
If you want to get back under 5/24 sooner than later, do a little research on business cards. Chase won't let u open a Chase business card if your above 5/24. BUT only a couple business cards count as 1 of those 5. So let's say u open an Amex Business Card. Then 6 months later you try for a Chase Card. Chase won't count an Amex Business Card as part of the 5/24.
Be careful, and do some research. I believe a Discover Business Card would count.

Cap1 Biz cards also show up on your personal credit report
I've never done one of these cards before, because I've always assumed that they "get you" by severely overpricing the value of a cruise or trip compared to what you can get with cash elsewhere. For example, when we go on a cruise, we have different travel agents bid against each other for the lowest bid on a particular ship and cruise date using cruisecompete.
I'm assuming that by using points, the particular cruises and such are inflated by something like 25% dollar wise. Is that correct?

I have no idea how cruises work, but for other travel (flights/hotels/cars), you redeem points through a re-branded Expedia portal. The cost is the same as if booking with cash through Expedia; if you have the CSP/CSR/CIP, the cost in points is reduced based on the 1.25/1.5x points multiplier that applies to those cards. Depending on how you usually book, particularly hotels, that may be more expensive than other booking options, but there is no 'points markup'.
You can also transfer points to the frequent traveler programs of selected airlines/hotels (Smart to do when booking Hyatt hotels or business/first class flights on United or other airline partners. Not smart for booking Marriott/IHG hotels, except in very extreme cases).

They "get you" by knowing most people will carry a balance and thus pay interest. Which would negate the benefit of the points.
The Chase portal has a reputation for being "fare". Meaning somethings might be more, but others cheaper than booking direct. You should always compare.
But many feel the best value for points (getting 1.5, 2.0, 3.0+ cents per point) is by using travel partners. You simply dump ur UR points directly to the airline or hotel 1 for 1 (mostly) and book directly.
I just signed up for the Reserve. Plan on hoarding points now for use as travel opens. Not only sign up bonus, but I have enough reoccurring bills to earn some good points. That I'd spend anyway.

Can you get bonus points for adding or referring users to your account?
