If you close your Saphire card recently, you will need to wait 48 months from the date you received the previous Saphire bonus before applying to get the new card's bonus points.
Be careful not to waste a hard credit pull
Chase T&C:
"The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products."
Also I'll get csr rather than csp if you spend 3400+ in travel, dining etc

I was wondering if this will be applied towards my $4k spending minimum?
Yes, it will. Literally any charge on the card will.
It took me and wife 4-5 business days to get card in the mail. Interestingly, for both of us there was never an email stating that card is approved. The card just showed up in our accounts in 2 business days and physical card showed up in another couple of days.
It might be worth a shot sending a secure message to ask if they'll expedite it.
Otherwise Chase is pretty slow in my experience. Last year it took about 10 business days to get a Chase freedom unlimited.
Chase and Amex are gathering much more secondary data. Meaning they can see not only where the purchase was made, but what was purchased.
To youR point, I can't think of a typical, "daily" purchase that wouldn't count. As he wisely noted, just make sure there is no fee for using the CC. To earn a bonus might be worthwhile, but after, likely not.
Are you sure your not comparing to the Reserve? I got my Reserve right at 5 weeks ago and is metal (even warns against shredding). The Preferred has always been plastic AFAIK.
The is a reason one has a $95 AF, and the other $550

No they have preferred. Both my dad and brother has the preferred. They do not pay $450 a year.

They also a "Pay myself back" feature that lets you redeem points for a straight statement credit (w/ a 25% bonus in points value!) towards dining, home improvement stores, grocery, etc.
